A person-centred service was provided from the commencement of the care package. This enabled me to complete my own tasks confident that all her care needs would be met and she would have enjoyed the company. The carers understood the importance of talking, listening and explaining to people living
with dementia. I would have no hesitation in recommending this service to anyone.

All the staff have been very good without exception. Efficient, reliable and caring. I will be happy to recommend Helping Hands to others. I have needed short-term care following surgery, so I have needed help to regain my independence

I want the very best care provider for my husband, and this care company excel; its care with a capital C!
Both my husband and I know that he is receiving from all his morning and evening carers such excellent help in all that they do during their visits. They laugh along with him, treat him with
respect, listen to him and talk with him (not at him!). They are very diligent in all that they do, and I am informed straightaway (with his knowledge and permission) if there is any cause for concern regarding his health. I know that he feels very 'comfortable' with them, and I notice clearly that they brighten his day/eves by being there to help him and to make him feel he is safe and cared for, and they do not make him feel as though he's being rushed. I do wish I'd discovered this care company before, but so relieved now that I have. The bottom line is that Helping Hands Preston keeps their promise in what they say, they will do; they do it with kindness, understanding, empathy, and very reliable also.

Been using Helping Hands for approx. 13 months to provide care for my husband, so I can take a break from caring duties. He has ongoing cancer and in January 2021 he had surgery to remove a metastases tumour from his brain. This means he needs help with daily tasks such as meal preparation. He also
benefits socially from the company and conversation of new people. We have found all the staff to be pleasant, caring and hard-working and would recommend them.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

My role at Helping Hands is the management of the branch, the branch team, and our valued care team. This ensures compliance, and monitoring and that the service is safe, alongside all services being of high quality and value for money. I also promote company-set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure the longevity of the branch.

Outside of work I take part in a local dominoes league, playing for Tarleton BC A team; in reality, the team have allowed me to bring their average age down! That said we do have some successes in our weekly matches. I also have a Springer Spaniel who takes a bit of exercising.

Experience and expertise

I have been involved in the management of Health and Social Care since 1998 following 2 years as a Health and Social Care Tutor for a Training Provider. In 1999 I began operating my own Domiciliary Care Agency which I developed into a large service in Bolton. It held Main Provider with Bolton Council servicing c2000 hours per week and employing 70+ local people. My proudest moment during these years was the achievement and continued award of the Investor in People Award. In 2018 the business was sold and it continues to prosper.

From December 2019 to September 2022, I was a Registered Manager for a Nursing and Care Agency in the Blackpool area. I also went on secondment into a Peripatetic Role supporting another branch whilst a new manager was recruited. I thoroughly enjoyed the majority of this work, learning more about clinical and Complex services from my two Branch Nurses, alongside Children's services, Case Management, and Healthcare.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I chose Helping Hands Preston as Domiciliary Care is my first love. The Values of the company sit well with my own about treating people well - both Clients and the Care Team. During my first weeks, I have undergone comprehensive training in the way Helping Hands' systems operate, and I have achieved my re-registration with CQC as Registered Manager for the Preston Branch.
I look forward to taking the branch forward and enabling the provision of additional services to people who need them within the areas the branch covers. I have started meeting the people who use our service and it is lovely to see high levels of customer satisfaction from the provision of their individual packages.
