Overall the experience/care we have had for my father over the last 2 years has been good. We have had a couple of bad experiences with carers in that time which has been dealt with straight away.

Very professional. Listened to all our questions and concerns. Always has a chat to dad upon arrival (dad has Alzheimer's so not too chatty). Gave us all necessary paperwork, new terms and conditions etc. and went through it all. Also checked medication lists and took evidence. went through any problems
with rota's which we had a huge concern with but I felt I had left it in capable hands to get sorted. Always friendly and helpful.

The care service provided by Helping Hands Home Care (Cambridge) is excellent. My mother has had daily home care for two years now, initially, it was just one visit but as her mental state has sadly declined it is more. The carers are very good with her and fully understand her need. She really can't
do anything for herself. I cannot recommend them highly enough and believe this type of care is the way forward as it allows someone to stay in their own home in an environment they know and get better care.

In a difficult year, due mainly to Covid cases in carers families or contacts, most carers have coped very well. Often office workers had to mobilise to replace visiting carers, but when clients were warned of the changes by telephone, the longer waits for attention were less worrying.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.083 for Helping Hands Home Care (Cambridge) is calculated as follows: ( (1 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.083

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Helping Hands Home Care (Cambridge) is based on 2 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 = 3.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

Hi! I'm Beth, the Branch Care Manager for Cambridge. My role is to oversee the branch and support my amazing team to deliver the best service possible. We provide person-centered support that is tailored to each customer, based on their individual needs, wishes and preferences. Our overall goal is to ensure everyone is able to live safely and independently in their own homes. Helping Hands Cambridge are an enthusiastic bunch, with hearts of gold and commitment and determination to succeed in everything we do. Since joining the team in January, I have seen some amazing things and I'm so excited to see what we can achieve together. I have always been interested in helping people and initially wanted to get into care for experience before moving elsewhere in healthcare, but I can confidently say that care is where I am supposed to be and I could not picture myself doing anything else. Outside of work, I am usually spending my time with my family, eating out or travelling. My goal is to travel to 100 counties - I'm a little over 1/4 of the way!

My experience and expertise

I joined Helping Hands back in October 2019 as an hourly visiting carer for the Letchworth Branch. I then worked my way up, to Care Training Practitioner, working on recruiting and training carers. In April 2021 I became Care Coordinator, managing the carers, rota, and customer communications. Then, in August 2021 I commenced my role as Branch Manager for Helping Hands Letchworth. In January 2022, I moved to the Cambridge Branch and have loved every minute. Before I joined Helping Hands, I was studying for my degree, where I achieved a 2:1 in Biomedical Science. Alongside this, I worked in various roles in bars, hotels and restaurants, whilst also running the Coventry University BioScience Society and volunteering with the Alzheimers Society. I'm now completing my NVQ in Managing Adult Social Care, to ensure I am supporting my team to deliver the best service possible here at Helping Hands Cambridge.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I chose Helping Hands because of the commitment and respect shown to all employees. The support I have had throughout my journey has been truly amazing, and I could not thank those who have guided, supported and challenged me, enough. When I came across the company, the values really reflected with how I feel our customers and carers should be supported, and I wanted to be part of a team that completes rewarding and amazing work every single day. I am excited by the opportunities Helping Hands offer, and love hearing about all of the amazing success stories for our customers and employees.
