The provider offers a wide range of one-to-one services tailor-made to the needs of the individual - and home visits can be from 1-2 hours a day up to 24-7 care that includes weekends and holidays.

Services are flexible to the needs of each client. These can include personal care such as assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and medication; home help covering all aspects of day-to-day housework, shopping, meal preparation and household duties; and companionship services that can involve everything from escorting clients on visits or appointments to simple conversation and good company.

Mum was able to continue to live at home for those extra few months with the help of Home Instead. I cannot fault the care and compassion showed by everyone from the admin staff to the visiting carers. They were professional in their approach and when mum was not at home on a couple of occasions they
made every effort to ensure she was safe and well. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her visits and we will always be grateful for the help Home Instead provided.

Home Instead have been supporting my mum with personal care four days a week for about a year now.
Recently my mum became ill and required additional support which we were not sure whether would be short term or long term. The team at Home Instead have been incredibly flexible and helpful throughout
this process, which has involved some "live-in" care three nights a week.
The admin/management staff have met our needs efficiently and reassessed the care plan as it has needed to adapt. The care staff themselves have been very professional, understanding, willing to adapt and incredibly kind to my mum, who greets each one with enthusiasm.
Many thanks to all concerned. I could not have coped through this period without you!

My Mother has been very happy with Home Instead as have I. The care my Mother has needed has increased over the last few years and they have adapted with us. Every carer that comes in the door has been kind, patient and very efficient. Mum loves chatting with them all and it keeps her bright and happy.
The office have managed to fulfill all my last minute requests for extra help when needed. We would never have been able to keep Mother in her own home without the care of Home Instead. I would highly recommend them.

I approached Home Instead in April 2023. My widowed, 94 year old mum lived independently but we, as a family, felt she needed some support due to failing memory. She was extremely reluctant to have a carer. However she soon came to look forward to their visits and enjoyed their companionship.
Now
nearly two years on, she needs so much more care; though still wants to live in her own home. The staff at Home Instead have gone above and beyond to help us. I know mum is in safe hands and if there is an issue, I am informed straight away. Nothing is too much trouble. What a brilliant team from the caring team to the office team. Would definitely recommend this caring company for your loved ones.

Wonderful team of carers to assist me with the final ten months of my husband's care at home with multiple dementias and being completely bed-bound. Their compassion and professional expertise enabled the family and me to keep him comfortable, safe and very happy here at home until his very gentle passing
in November. They also brought fun and joy daily, helping lighten the work involved. The office staff too are always on hand to advise or help and nothing ever appears to be a problem to any of them. Their care for me and for the family since my husband's death has also been so kind and so appreciated.

Many months of incredible care, not just for my father, but also for my mother in her role as his full-time carer - practical support, emotional support and social support. The care team have been incredible, with an attention to detail and a generosity of spirit that is so valued by us as a family.
With us children living all over the world, the comfort of knowing our parents have had access to such high-quality care is so reassuring. Without this quality of support, it would have been very difficult to keep my father at home throughout his care needs, and this was so important to him. I recommend Home Instead without hesitation.

The lovely team at Home Instead were involved with my father's care for the last 18 months of his life. As my dad's needs increased and following discussion with us the team were able to increase the frequency, scope and length of his visits. He had a core team of regular carers with whom he formed
a strong bond and he always had a familiar face visiting. Such familiarity and trust became increasingly important as dad's dementia and general anxiety increased.


The carers and office staff were always approachable and supportive. We were provided with a phone app where members of the family could login and read daily reports from individual carers. These reports helped us feel reassured that dad was ok and being well cared for. To summarise the team at Home Instead gave dad the safe, professional, compassionate and caring support necessary to help him to remain living in his own home - something he really wanted to do!

A very professional and caring team who took the time to get to know our dad. I knew that my dad was receiving the highest standard of care in his own home.
Also, while the face to face carers were fantastic, every contact I had over the phone with the rest of the team, was dealt with in a very professional
way but whilst also having to help me through some very stressful situations. I always felt their empathy and am very grateful that we chose Home Instead.

Home Instead provided in-home care for my mum for approximately 1 year. Over time period they were fantastic and provided exceptional service to my mum. Nothing was too much for the team, they were flexible and went over and above when my mum was ill and we were on vacation out of the country. I would

When the time came to look at care for my late, husband, it was difficult, as he did not want anyone coming into our home. Looking at HomeInstead's CQC results, I made the decision to contact them. It was the best thing I could have done. Although at first, my husband was very reluctant to be supported,
he soon became friends with his carer and enjoyed their visits. They showed care, compassion and friendship from the beginning and went above and beyond to meet his needs. As my husband's health deteriorated, they adapted to these changes with ease. Latterly, we received photos of carers in our home which made a big difference for my husband to know who was visiting. He recognized photos, pointing, with a smile. Home Instead, gave me great piece of mind knowing my husband was in good hands, whilst I was at work, a few days a week. They would prepare his meals and support me with ironing, cleaning, etc, whilst my husband was eating, making sure he still had their attention.

We started using Home instead when Mum was 92 and still living completely independently. In the early days the visit each day was largely for companionship and to keep an eye on. As the months went by and Mum's needs grew the team was brilliant at gradually increasing their input and assisting with
meals, cleaning and personal care. The service and our requirements were frequently reviewed and adapted to our needs; changing the time of day and number of visits as mum's needs changed. As she approached 95 Mum needed more frequent care and we chose to access this support using Home Instead rather than a care home for as long as possible. Only when it became clear that 24-hour residential was needed did we choose to move her from her own home.
Flexible, professional and friendly I cannot recommend highly enough.

We were most impressed by the professionalism of the service provided throughout. The initial assessment was very thorough and identified our needs most carefully. All the carers, and particularly our principal carer (who assisted us throughout the period that we needed assistance) were always prompt
and obliging and more than willing to carry out more mundane tasks if asked to do so. We would be more than happy to use your services again should the need arise and would certainly recommend it to others.

The whole process at Home Instead was highly professional and the care and compassion offered to both my mum and dad was amazing. Their needs were discussed with the family and considered at all times. Communication was excellent with updates on each visit and any concerns were immediately highlighted
with a telephone call. They were able to cover bank holidays and never let us down on a single visit which is invaluable when you do not live nearby. I highly recommend Home Instead as a home carer provider.

My father was very reluctant to have support living at home,but after a couple of weeks became quite comfortable with having 2 visits each day.

My experience was entirely positive. From first contact over the telephone to each subsequent step I felt there was a genuine concern to give quality care for my Dad and me. Details of our personal needs were sought and then catered for, to achieve a truly individual service. Their care added quality
to my father's life in his last year. My confidence in their support was well placed, from carers to managers and administrative staff. I would also mention that I came to like the part of the welcome pack that showed you the photographs of the team who might be answering your phone calls. Another humanising touch in their approach.

We are very grateful to Home Instead (Tavistock), who cared for Mum for two years, enabling her to remain at home following her Dementia and Alzheimer’s diagnosis. 
Mum’s team of carers were unwavering in their kindness and went above and beyond to overcome challenges and meet her changing needs as
the illness progressed. 
Home Instead’s collaborative approach with family and the rest of Mum’s support network facilitated excellent communication and consistency with her care. 
Although always remaining very professional, Mum came to regard her regular team more as valued friends rather than merely caregivers, thanks to their gentle, calm companionship. We, in turn, had peace of mind that Mum was in safe hands when we could not be with her ourselves.

My name is Sandie and I was the Registered Manager at Tavistock and Tamar Valley Home Instead office. I have now moved to a part-time role dedicated to our quality standards. I live in the beautiful town of Tavistock with my husband Mark and our two teenage daughters, we have an Irish Setter dog and a Maine Coon cat.


My career has primarily been in banking, starting as a bank clerk with Barclays at 16, and progressing to managerial positions within the Santander group. On moving to Tavistock in 2009, my husband and I wanted to share the care of our two young daughters, so I worked as an evening care worker to dovetail with his work. I developed a passion for looking after people in their own homes and started a small domiciliary company, wanting to improve my client’s quality of life and truly make a difference, this is how I met Lynn and her Mum Enid. Having started this journey from the beginning with Lynn, I am so proud that we have built an amazing team with values that focus on our mission to ‘change the face of ageing’.


I have two older daughters and four grandchildren and my spare time goes into dog walks on the moors, planning get-togethers, days out, holidays, online quizzes and murder mysteries. I also love live music events and getting on the dance floor.
