Support Solutions delivers home-care in the community in York, Harrogate and Beverley. They are registered to provide care and support for both children and adults.

Driving assisted technology enhances the support provided by a carer that will keep loved ones safe and secure. The staff are trained in areas that others don’t train in making them a flexible and knowledgeable team.

Support Solutions ensure that the time allocated to their clients is their time, they have minimum staffing to each client so the staff members can build up relationships to ensure continuity can be met and trust can be built. They have a low turn over of staffing, they treat the staff with respect and value each one of them.

All care is tailored to the individual’s care needs and wishes and staff go above and beyond to enhance the quality of life for each person they care for. Whether the person needs complex care or is just looking for a bit of company to brighten up their day, Support Solutions can meet their needs. They ask the right questions to ensure the correct personalised package of care and support is offered to clients and their families.

Services can be provided from as little as 1 hour per session to 24-hour live-in care, depending on the service user’s needs and wishes. Services provided include everything from personal care, help with medication, cleaning and food preparation to cancer care, palliative care and dementia care.

Staff are highly qualified and only become part of the team after a rigorous recruitment process which includes DBS checks and at least two references. Alongside is an experienced team of managers who support each other and are trained or training to be qualified in Level 5 Health & Social Care. The support and training they provide their staff is above and beyond the basic Care Certificate.

The care received from various members of staff has been excellent, both from a personal care aspect and a social care time.
There are times when rotas are altered which we understand, as illness among staff cannot be predicted, but but would be appreciated of we could be informed about timing differences,
especially as some medications cannot be administered until after a shower.

Reply from Ryan Saynor, Marketing Assistant at Support Solutions (York & Beverley)

Thank you for your kind words regarding our team. We are pleased to hear that they consistently provide excellent care for your husband. I understand your concerns about the rota changes, and as discussed, we will make every effort to notify you of any adjustments to your husband's scheduled visits whenever possible.

I have used Support Solutions for 20 months. The company employs staff mainly from Zimbabwe and other countries in Africa. Sometimes I think my bedroom at 7:30 am is like the United Nations. We all get along splendidly and they have found that not all 75-year-old Yorkshire man roused from their slumbers
at silly o'clock are grumpy. We all get along fine, as a retired journalist I love asking questions about their families and about their life back home in Africa. If they need to know where the best chippy is, happy to help!

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review! We're delighted to hear how much you appreciate our wonderful overseas staff. Many of them are highly educated, with multiple degrees in care-related fields, and they continue to advance their knowledge through ongoing studies within our company. In fact, most are working towards or have already achieved Level 3 or higher qualifications in Health & Social Care. We truly value their dedication and expertise, and we're thrilled that you've recognised just how brilliant they are. Without them, we wouldn't be the strong team we are today!

I have only had this care package for one week but find the people who have been to assist my husband in showering and dressing are very helpful and caring and originally had this service for 2 days but was impressed and changed it to 5 days.

Acceptable standard, would welcome general 'chat'. Please emphasise the need to speak clearly, more so when wearing a mask and check on hearing aid users in particular - hence request as we are partially dependent on 'seeing' folk talking. I realise timetable problems!

The only problem sometimes is the visit schedule they send me it is not always right, the other day and once before it was for 9:05 AM but on the carer's phone her schedule was for 8:05 AM. When she came I didn't hear her as I was in bed and she got a bit worried.

Three different carers attended me while I was in the care of Support Solutions. Each carer arrived on time. They showered me, made sure I had clean clothes and took me down for breakfast. Each carer treated me with respect and dignity especially when applying creams to various parts of me. I can only
describe them as wonderful carers. I am grateful for all they did for me.

Support Solutions have been providing care for my father for the past six months. The service they have provided has been great, even through stagffing issues they still provided the care we required. Any issues we have experienced have been resolved quickly and contact with management has been second

The service provided by your staff is remarkable, all of them give peace of mind to my wife and I. Nothing is too much trouble, if any situation is beyond my wife and I, require expertise and sympathy, all members of your staff take whatever needs to be done.
Questions of time and daily pressure do
not allege that they must give their next client(s) priority.
Furthermore, all your staff give their expertise with both service and a smile.

My mum had two previous care providers prior to Support Solutions, and they have been a godsend. Attentive, kind and caring. Have a lot of time for my mum, who has dementia. Rings me for advice, and I personally feel settled with not living locally.

Disappointing. Some of the carers were very good, however, numerous times basic tasks such as administration of medication and meals were not actioned on visits to my mother. One visit involved her being left on the floor and the incident was not reported to the duty manager or myself. The incident
was denied until video evidence was provided. On receipt of the evidence, our contract was terminated by the company. They were happy to take our money for years until we complained about examples of negligence. The issue was reported to Safeguard and local social services/MP. We didn't hear of the outcome or receive an apology from management etc.

Reply from Catherine McClure, Managing Director at Support Solutions (York & Beverley)

The company were disappointed to receive this 12 months after the service had finished. An incident (Oct 2021) did occur but not in the way portrayed. The company reacts immediately to any concerns. An incident was raised at the time, the on-call manager informed the son immediately. We requested the camera footage as part of our investigation which was then shared with safeguarding. None of it shows a client on the floor. The staff member involved attended the next day. She apologised for not being able to carry out some of her support due to mobilisation of the client. An apology was sent on more than one occasion via email, letter and throughout the investigation, we also offered to meet with the son via the MP, this was not taken up. We supplied a service for over 3 years to the client and notice given, but for staffing in covid times, we stopped in Dec 2021. We are very sorry that we had to raise a safeguarding and after such a long time we must share this with others.
