My Mother was left physically disabled after multiple hip operations due to a heavy fall. She was clearly in need of some help at home. I found Active Homecare online, reviews were good and they were based in Dunstable rather than a larger, national business who had people who could deliver a service.
From the outset they listened carefully and clearly understood my Mums needs. At the first introduction appointment they were keen not only to assist her in her basic needs but help with her recovery. With daily exercises shown and practiced together (these went from the most basic form, but she needed to start somewhere) my Mum slowly recovered to a stage where she is now mobile enough not to require care at home. I doubt my Mum would where she is now without such a positive support from the Active Homecare team, who along with her determination helped her achieve her goals. I'd be happy to recommend them to anyone.

My dad genuinely enjoys every visit that he has with the girls the improvement dad has made since Active homecare have been coming is great, improving his social skills, assisting him on physio, giving him the confidence. The girls really and truly are amazing. I love coming home from work to hear about
his day with the girls. The help we have had over the months has been impeccable, as a family we have really benifited from the girls and are forever grateful.

I contacted Active Homecare after my mother had a nasty fall resulting in a complex injury. I was in a bit of a state myself and wasn't really sure how they would be able to help but Active Homecare were fantastic. They made time to visit Mum the morning after my call. They made sure she was comfortable
and talked through what support they could offer. Accepting help was difficult for my independent mum but on meeting the manager, she was reassured and comfortable to accept support with her personal care until she recovered from the shock and started to feel better. The member of staff providing the care was kind and friendly and Mum was treated with dignity, patience and respect throughout. Active Homecare also stayed in regular contact with me, providing much needed reassurance and advice. They really helped me and mum through a difficult time. I wholeheartedly recommend Active Homecare.

I am so impressed with the team at Active Homecare, management came out very quickly to do an assessment and the team gave amazing care to my nan, she said they felt like family. Thank you so so much, you guys made the process so much easier and helped support me before her passing. If anyone is looking
I can not recommend them enough, they go above and beyond and this is exactly what you expect from a loved one.

Active Homecare Ltd have been visiting my mother for over 18 months and their service has been second to none. The staff are friendly, caring and professional and they always treat my mum with empathy and dignity. They all complete their work with a smile and never react to Mum's moods or let Mum's
moods affect them. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

I needed to find a care provider for my mum as her 28-day care was due to end, I had no previous experience in this but a cousin recommended Active Homecare. I had an initial meeting with the management and was impressed by the professionalism shown and this has carried on since we've used them. My
mum absolutely loves all the carers and actually looks forward to the visits, we're kept informed of any changes or decisions made by the management team. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this company to anyone looking for a care provider.

Active Homecare has proven to be excellent. My husband and I have had no links to any homecare apart from now so know nothing! We were informed and advised to contact Active Homecare as they were well recommended by our neighbours. I cannot tell you how lovely and helpful all their carers are. Obviously,
they are several carers that make us laugh and feel human even during either a strip wash or shower. All come to my bedroom with a happy, smiling faces and such a caring nature. I would make personal friends with all of them. That's how professional and caring they are. A joy to have their company! Very professional and well-educated in health and safety. Will be very happy to recommend it.

We used Active Homecare from Sept 2021 until March 2023. The ladies who cared for Mum were always respectful, cheerful, caring and responsive to her changing needs. Because of her frailty, we used CCTV and saw that carers were just as kind, warm and caring to Mum when we were not there as when we were
present. They really made us feel that we were a team looking after Mum. They consistently demonstrated a skilful balance between respect e.g. asking permission or giving forewarning of intimate care - and using humour and affection which enabled them to build a strong relationship with Mum and our family, sensitively recognising and responding to our feelings as Mum declined. The importance of training and staff development was consistently evident. They liaised effectively with our GP and other agencies to ensure the provision of equipment, physio and other care needs. I was moved that so many of them wanted to attend her funeral and that leaders ensured that all were able to do so.

We are very grateful for the wonderful care Active Homecare gave to our mum in her last two years. She was very appreciative of the care that the team and their nurse manager provided and always enjoyed their visits.
Active Homecare’s kind and professional care made it possible for Mum to stay in
the comfort of her home and with her family, which was always her wish. For us, one of the nicest things was to see how the staff could all still make Mum laugh about something or get her to smile, even when she was quite sleepy. My husband is a semi-retired senior nurse, he very much admired the high quality of care and how well the team worked with the GP, District Nurses and Occupational Therapist.
We feel privileged to have found such a nice team of people to look after Mum. While it is sad to say goodbye to Mum, we will always be grateful for the way the team all helped to make her last few months at home so comfortable and memorable in the best way we could hope for.

Active Homecare has helped me in many ways over the past 3 years. I met them first as a carer for my father, then helping with my mum who has Alzheimer’s, and since September caring for myself whilst I go through chemotherapy. They offer practical solutions, dignified care and nothing is too much trouble.
They even prep my home so it’s ready for when I’m home from having treatment or in hospital. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them to anyone, I really wouldn’t trust anyone else in my home and my carer will help me with anything, nothing is too much trouble from personal care for me, my medication, shopping, cleaning, taking me out for fresh air or just chatting and making me something to eat and drink. I also like that the manager stays in contact checking everything is ok and asking if there is anything else they can do.

In 2021 when both my elderly parents were struggling with health problems a friend recommended Active Homecare. My mum was reluctant at first, especially with the covid situation but they soon gained her trust and she looked forward to seeing them. Dad continued with Active after Mum sadly passed away
and he has found their emotional support a great help as he adjusts to living alone. Every member of the team is friendly and compassionate, pointing out any areas of concern to the family if and when they crop up. They certainly are Active Angels to us!

I am happily astounded and amazed by the level of care and service this fabulous company have shown to my poorly Dad. Within the first week, he felt he knew them, and they knew him - and listened to what he wanted, and did what he needed. They are highly trained, reliable, professional and efficient
- all whilst placing my Dad's needs as the priority. The compassion, care, love, and laughter they've shared in these first 5 weeks has been tremendous and I cannot recommend them strongly enough. For the first time since Dad started needing care, I can relax, safe and happy in the knowledge that he is being cared for in the way he needs, and deserves.

Wow. We have had two previous care companies, and neither cared! We changed to Active Homecare and both my parents and myself are delighted. They care for both my parents. Could never ask for anything more. Lovely carers, great company. They turn up on time. Do everything that’s asked of them. I cannot
be happier. They have made life so much better. Thank you all. Excellent care. 100%

All carers are extremely good and on very friendly terms. I would add that one of them is too thorough and puts things away out of reach. Anyway, top marks to all of them.

Staff are diligent in their care of the client and show good awareness of needs. Communication with family is excellent and good records are kept. Carers are friendly and helpful putting the client at ease at all times. One small area of improvement I would like to see is invoices being fully itemised
rather than the weekly cost given. On the whole, an excellent service is provided.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.981 for Active Homecare Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 54 Ratings = 4.981

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Active Homecare Ltd is based on 9 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.9

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
