Job Title: Branch Care Manager
About me
My name is Elisabete Johnsford, and I am the Branch Care Manager for the Worcester & Malvern areas.
My responsibilities as a manager are to manage a team of office and care staff and to deliver a high standard of care to individuals we support in their own homes. I am responsible for recruiting new carers, as well as working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure we gain a holistic knowledge of those we support, and can assist them regardless of their age/needs/conditions. My values, commitment, and approaches to innovation and an unrelenting focus on customer needs make me strive for nothing less than excellence.
In my spare time, I like to read, socialise with my friends and family, watch Netflix and relax, and enjoy travelling the world when I can.
Experience and expertise
My background is in Teaching - my five years of teaching experience in public and private education plus my excellent communication skills made me an ideal fit to explore the possibility to go abroad. I joined the care industry by pure chance 9 years ago, when I decided to come to the UK, and I really enjoyed my experience from the start! As a result, I chose to change my career path, which was by far the best decision I have ever made!
I began my career in care in 2014 as Health Care Assistant for vulnerable adults in domiciliary care. In this role, I really found my passion for care and knew I wanted to make this my career. After three months as a carer, I was offered the position of Care Coordinator, where I continued for three more years. I then worked for a care agency where I was very fortunate to have such a broad variety of placements in most health care specialities, with vulnerable people of all ages. On one of my placements in a residential care home, they offered me the position of a senior carer, which I did for a year, before joining Helping Hands.
Why I chose Helping Hands
I joined Helping Hands in June 2021 as a Care Coordinator at the Evesham & Cotswold Branch, and then for the Warwickshire Branch. In June 2022 Helping Hands offered me the opportunity to take on the new role of Branch Care Manager for Worcester & Malvern.
I decided to join Helping Hands because I wanted to be part of a company that not only takes care of people by giving them independence in their homes but also takes care of who works with and for them. Their foundation is kindness, and that is what care is all about for me. They are very supportive and give you all the tools to do your job successfully.
By joining Helping Hands, I work very hard to strive for excellence in everything the team and I do, by working together, ensuring we are delivering the best care possible, and also taking care of each other.
We have one rule at Helping Hands that we live by: "Does it pass the Granny Test? The Granny Test is simply asking yourself, 'would my Granny approve?' Is it sensible, moral, and financially viable? If so, you have our backing as an organisation to go ahead and make the decision for yourself."
