I am very pleased with the care given by the carers. This includes the acts of kindness by one staff member in particular on 11/8/21.

Medication administration generally satisfactory, but has to be carefully monitored to ensure tablets have all been administered. Provision of meals - not all the carers are capable of cooking a balanced meal using only a microwave and seem unable to read and undertake the instructions on packets and
then serve the meals to look attractive, ie. mix all the food together and don't add salad, extra veg and gravy, even though they are all available. Do not ensure food is eaten before the call is ended. Household duties - no tie-up between carers; don't work together and leave it for next one to do, hence tasks never done. Even though deep cleaning is listed still not carried out, hence areas left in dirty conditions. General - too much time is used upon call by writing a detailed history of what they have done. Suggest an app could be used on their phone, which they could have a tick list and it would be accessible by the office team and other career and authorised people.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.794 for Helping Hands Home Care (Wakefield) is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.794

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Helping Hands Home Care (Wakefield) is based on 6 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 = 4.6

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

As the manager of the Wakefield branch, it is my responsibility to ensure that high-quality care is being delivered and we are offering a safe and effective service to our customers. As the manager of the Wakefield branch, it is my responsibility to ensure that high-quality care is being delivered and we are offering a safe and effective service to our customers. My job role includes complying with the five KLOES and following CQC guidance to ensure that the service we offer is five stars.

I decided to join the care industry at the age of 18 starting out as a carer. The reason I chose to go into care is that I am passionate about the care industry and believe that everybody deserves a high standard of care delivered to them.

I am proud of the team at Wakefield; the carers are always going above and beyond in their job role and always ensuring they put the customers first.

I have two children - a girl aged 14 and a boy aged 13 - and I have a Siberian Husky who is my world. I like to volunteer to help with fundraisers for charity work. I like to spend time with my family and I do love a bit of bingo!

Experience and expertise

I have worked in the care sector since being 18 and within those years I have worked as a carer, field care supervisor, and deputy manager – resulting in me working my way up to being a branch manager.

I hold my NCFE Level 2 in medication, I have a Diploma Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social care and I am currently studying my Level 5 in Leadership and Management. I also hold my Care Certificate.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I choose to come to Helping Hands because of the reviews I had read on Glassdoor. I enjoy keeping people within their own homes with families having peace of mind that their loved ones are getting person-centred, high-quality care delivered to them.
