Helping Hands Home Care provide a good service for us. Regular carers which is important. Delighted with carers who visit. Not as flexible as outlined at initial interview.
Cost issue, we use three care companies when on holiday in the Lake District, North Yorkshire and County Durham, all three provide
a comparable level of care at up to £10 a day cheaper.
Helping hands, due to its size should have economies of scale, there is no evidence of this.

It brightens my day each time the care provider comes to help me. Very careful strip washing, all my creams applied soothingly. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/living room are always left tidy. Sandwiches and hot meals are presented carefully. Any extra help, such as phoning the doctor or arranging
transport for hospital appointments is provided smoothly. I am extremely grateful for this.

Establishing a contact for care from Helping Hands is the best step I could have taken to support my wish to remain at home despite frailty and numerous health problems. The staff have been excellent - a real joy to welcome them into my home. They combine efficiency with care and support, and I feel
so much better after their visits.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.357 for Helping Hands Home Care (Newark) is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 42 Ratings = 4.357

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Helping Hands Home Care (Newark) is based on 7 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.7

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

As Branch Manager for Newark, I am responsible for the continual contribution to the care planning of our customers, as well as safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our customers and staff. Experience and expertise

My career in care began when I left college and began working within the Local Authority in residential homes, working with Looked After Children and Young People with emotional and behavioural difficulties, learning difficulties, and with families with children under five, within the Early Help and Intervention Team.
