Home Instead Scarborough & Ryedale is a family-run service. They know from experience how difficult it can be to find the right organisation to provide support at home and aim to give their clients and their families peace of mind.

With 14 years' experience of operating in York and the surrounding area, the owners opened the Home Instead office in Scarborough to provide their home care service to older people in Scarborough and throughout Ryedale including Malton, Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley.

The team specialises in providing home care and support for older people. Home Instead has has developed its own an Alzheimer's and dementia training programme for CAREGivers.

The team's aim is that the five themes of the CQC - Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led - form the foundations of the service and enable clients to build trust in Home Instead. The ultimate aim is to provide a service that the team would be happy for their own loved ones to receive.

Was very grateful for home help in early days. Get on well with me and most kind and considerate. Do anything they're asked.
Would recommend to anyone. Need to be sympathetic to the person, not push, bully, hard shock or slower than normal. Be patient, listen, might know more than you think.

The caregivers are wonderful with my 90-year-old mother, who has dementia. They are thoughtful, patient and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are good at stimulating her mind, discussing the news etc, and taking her out for drives. The log they complete is very detailed and very helpful as
I don't live locally to my mum. Can't fault Home Instead (Scarborough & Ryedale).

It's our first anniversary! What a year it has been but the care and support I have had has been fantastic - from June especially when my husband went into hospital - the help I needed before and after full hip surgery and losing my husband. The office have also kept in touch with my daughter who is

The ladies have been great, and they have inspired me to begin the "sorting out" of the house. My husband and I have been in the house for 40 years and there are a few "glory holes" that need digging out!

After having a very bad experience from my previous care company I moved to Home Instead (Scarborough & Ryedale) and it's the best thing I could have done! All the staff, carers and office staff alike are extremely helpful, friendly and very kind. One carer especially helped me to regain my confidence
after it was totally destroyed by my previous company. I would most certainly recommend Home Instead (Scarborough & Ryedale) to anyone needing care of any kind as I have multiple health problems both physical and early onset dementia and they are amazing! A great big thank you to you all.

My mother has received wonderful and professional caregiving support, originally three times a week and now 8 sessions a week since October 2020. Mum looks forward to seeing her caregiver and I have seen how well they work together and also the support that this gives Dad too.
We have seen first
hand how flexible and responsive the service is to Mum's needs. The pandemic has enabled the family and Mum and Dad to hold Zoom reviews with Home Instead which seems to work well for all.
Mum after the last meeting said 'that was a good meeting', which it was. Living some distance away it is also reassuring to know that there is good back up that then helps us all as a family.
We trust the service Mum receives and like the ability to see how Mum is getting on by using the Home Instead Portal. Thank you for being a professional, friendly, caring and responsive care company.

This was the first time that I had used a care agency to provide care for my 90-year-old mother while I was away, so I was a little worried about how she would be with someone new coming into the house. I needn't have worried. From the initial assessment visit during which my mum's routines etc were
noted and it was explained in detail how everything would work, then meeting the carer who was so nice, I was confident that all would be fine. And it was fine. The standard of service and quality of care was exceptional and I could not have asked for more. This is a professional agency with high standards all round. I found that communications with the office were very good and the online portal which describes each visit by the carer in good detail was a bonus.
Choosing a care agency is not easy, but I would highly recommend Home Instead (and so would my Mum).

Having only recently in the last month became a user of Home Instead, as a family, we have been very impressed with their professional, helpful and caring attitude. They carried out the initial assessment, explaining what they could do and have followed up as promised. They were able to help us quickly
with a carer to help on a morning with Mum's personal care, which enables Dad to have a bit of time to himself away from his fulltime, caring role. She also helps with jobs around the house. Mum has taken to her new carer, and Dad is less stressed - you couldn't as for more. Thank you, Home Instead.

Home Instead has provided for my Father a bespoke care package. He is a very intelligent gentleman with a mind still sharp despite his 90 years though he struggles with more physical activities. Home Instead have provided him with a personal carer who engages his mind on subjects of shared interest
as well as managing the jobs around the flat with which he needs help. He also has the option for trips out in the car and or an accompanied walk to the park which makes sure he gets out and has some exercise and fresh air. Home Instead also allows for him to be taken to hospital or doctors appointments, any light shopping or collection of prescriptions. The Manager is a very warm and approachable lady who is very happy to help, listen and support should the need arise.

Although we are new clients we feel the care and support is excellent. The staff are friendly, efficient and competent. My father has complex needs and they spent the time before providing the care to find out what these are. I can now have some time off with complete peace of mind my father is in good
hands. The management are very approachable and happy to help.

She is an experienced manager with strong leadership skills and a huge passion for developing and empowering staff members. Her past experience has included being a Clinical Manager at a GP practice in Scarborough and a pharmacy manager before that.

I joined the Home Instead team in 2021 as a Care Coordinator and have subsequently become the Care Manager.


For 25 years I spent my time as a retail manager, where the team was always my focus. I enjoyed nurturing, guiding, and assisting team members to achieve their goals, and going home happy and feeling appreciated. I then relocated to Guernsey for a couple of years and again worked in retail. Upon moving back to England I decided upon a career change and a role within the care sector!


After different positions over a few years at other Care Providers, I saw an advert for Home Instead, applied and was lucky enough to secure the position of Care Coordinator. I now feel I have the job I want, working for a company that really cares and gives the quality of care I would like my own family to receive.

I'm Ann-Marie, Managing Director of Home Instead Scarborough & Ryedale as well as Home Instead York.


My professional background is in marketing and operations, mainly in the education sector. I have personal experience with how dementia can impact a family and the relationships within it. I am passionate about helping people live with dementia in their own homes where they are most comfortable, in the same way, that my Dad did.


In my role as Managing Director, I am responsible for supporting the team to deliver outstanding care to all of our clients. We do this by hiring the right people, providing award-winning training, monitoring the quality of everything we do and always applying ‘the mum test’ i.e. would this be what I would want for my Mum or Dad?

Luke worked in banking and the telecommunications industry for 12 years before becoming a Home Instead Senior Care franchise owner. He was attracted to the ethos of Home Instead after seeing how Home Instead can make a real difference in people’s lives in their own homes, as well as provide employment opportunities in the community. His role is to build relationships with local providers and organisations; look for opportunities for Home Instead to contribute to the local community and manage the business side of the operation.
