The carers are kind, caring and helpful but as they travel by bus, they don't have enough time allotted between clients. As a result, it is difficult for them not to be late. They sometimes have to walk long distances on foot as the buses are not reliable. They sometimes have no travelling time included
in their timetable. That is one appointment at 15 to 15.30 then one at 15.30! Miles away.

Thank you for the review. We have company cars that carers can use and we employ people on the basis that they will drive. However, all the carers are given enough time from one client to another. We are unsure where you got this information from as the carers themselves are aware of our driving policy and we would be happy to discuss with you further if you have any concerns. On another note, our organisation is working in line with the local authority to encourage a pollution free zone. Our carers work in the same area which is easy for them to reach, however, sometimes they get delayed by traffic which is beyond our control.

I have found the carers very helpful and kind at all times. They respect me and we get on well, having a laugh and chat at times. If I have any problems I ring the office and they advise me on what to do. They cook my dinners for me and clear up afterwards and don't leave until they have checked that
I have everything I want until they're back later. I have them 4 times daily. Very satisfied.

Don't always listen to requests/needs. Mostly left body all uncovered during wash (no dignity). Don't understand food requests due to language barriers. Time restraints not long enough for meals or care before rushing off. Front left open and insecure on numerous occasions - safeguarding risk. When
medications change carers don't believe patient, even though she doesn't have dementia. She's to be involved and listened to in all matters.

Thank you for letting us know of your concerns. We have completed our own investigations with regards to your complaint and we also visited your mother and spoke with her. She has a good relationship with our carers and she has sweet nicknames for them. 1. We have a time limit of 30mins on every visit and our carers ensure that your mum is left comfortable, with food and fluids. The carers always overrun on most visits. They do more than the allocated time of 30mins. We understand you wanted us to administer medication against your mum's GP's advice, it is our policy to always get GP approval before administering any new medication. Your mum is always involved in all decisions and she is consulted. It will give you assurance if you meet our carers in future when you visit your mum because they are all fluent in English and you can evidence the good relationship your mum has with the carers. We have an open door policy, please free to contact us if you have any challenges in future.

The staff/carers are very nice, they make me feel at ease in all aspects of my care needs, it’s a pity that they can’t carry out basic first aid duties.
The office staff are nice too and most are carers themselves, they need to get problems solved quickly like cars, rotas, i.e. if a client asks for
a time for the care team to start, they don’t want to start 15 minutes or longer, in some cases up to 4 hours, with sorry we are late, they might need changing or medication.

Thank you for your review. I have checked your care package and care plan. You are seen twice a day in the morning and evening and or extra when you have an emergency. With regards to first aid, all our carers are trained and have regular refresher training. Unfortunately, some of your request does not meet their job description as they need trained professionals, e.g changing bandages etc. Our records show that you have been seen less than an hour of your request of needing emergency support. Please bear with us as we are trying our best to support you as these calls are not planned and we need to put a team together to visit you as soon as we can.

The carers that look after my mum are just lovely. It gives me great peace of mind knowing that they are going in to see to her needs and have a chat when I'm not able to. They are always happy and cheerful, and my mum looks forward to them coming in. Thank you!

The carers are very polite even when dealing with me ob a grumpy day. Since moving to Hampshire, my care has improved and I am well looked after. Professional teams have made sure I have all the right equipment in place to help me in and out od bed and I now can stay in bed the whole night whereas before,
I slept most nights in my recliner chair. I feel so grateful for the care I receive that enables me to live at home with my family. Lif is good at 90 years old!

My father had carers in three times a day to attend to him. They were friendly staff and worked quickly. One issue we did have was sometime they would be delayed getting there, especially in the morning but this would be due to other clients overrunning. I can confirm this as when my father need additional
time they willingly spent it with him, this would have therefore had a knock-on affect with later clients.

Absolutely useless. Untrained staff who couldn't wait to leave to get to the next job. I don't blame the staff but they did not understand the basics of home care and were consistently late. Another example of companies cashing in on the home care sector with cheap, poorly trained labour.

Reply from Hilda Chehore, Director at Pathways of Hope

Thank you for your response. I checked our systems and our carers have been with your mother for allocated times and agreed amount of time or more on visits. As you are aware lunch and tea calls were fifteen minutes and the carers were overrunning sometimes due to not having enough time. As an organisation we tried to contact you to discuss your concerns. Unfortunately, you were unable to return our calls but resorted to contacting an ex-employee. There are times when carers were late due to other emergencies e.g. supporting another client who needed emergency support. Our carers are fully trained and always there to meet every client's needs.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.000 for Pathways of Hope is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.1, 7th = 0.1, 8th = 0.1, 9th = 0.1, 10th = 0.1)

The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Pathways of Hope is based on 5 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
