Home Instead (Stoke Newington, Leyton and Wanstead) have been fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble and they have been such a support for me and my mum. It has meant a lot to be able to share a little of the responsibility and be able to ask for help. They are flexible and able to adapt to my mum's
needs at short notice. I really appreciate everything they have done to help us.

A caring and concerned professional service that is able to adapt quickly to changes in circumstances and need. They are well managed and staffed with well trained and experienced caregivers. Their service allowed me peace of mind that my sister was in good hands.

Assessment of my uncle was done comprehensively and professionally. Home Instead matched carers that were well suited to his personality and they have all been very nice to him. They do the job they are paid to do but also look out for other risks or aspects of his life that could be improved. For example,
if some of his personal items are running low or the garden needs doing, they will let the family know and also offer a means of how they can remedy the situation.
I was worried about having a third-party organisation paid for my uncle's care. You hear horror stories of jobs not being done or of care not being provided for the full time that is being paid for. I am confident that Home Instead have done their jobs and spent the time with my uncle that they are paid for.

Excellent care. The carer helps with washing and dressing, breakfast, laundry, dishwasher, leaves me out dishes and cutlery for the day, puts out rubbish, cleans kitchen surfaces, posts letters and feeds cats.
Cheerful and friendly. Loves my cats.
I had a hip replacement and live alone as my family
can't visit.

From the moment I called, the manager was so reassuring and helped me feel safe. This was the first time I had ever looked for a part-time carer for my mum, and it was really nerve-wracking. I was able to discuss my mum's needs and meet the carers before making a decision. Any problems I had, I felt
comfortable discussing with the manager and resolving them. Believe me when I say, they really care.

The care team were delightful and every effort was made to tailor the support to my specific (and changing) needs. A very positive experience and very friendly. Not easy to invite strangers into your home to care for you but the team made it very easy.

My name is Shumana Akhtar, and I am the Care Manager at Home Instead Stoke Newington, Leyton & Wanstead. I have worked in the care industry for over 5 years starting off as a care worker, promoted as Assistant Care Manager and now a Care Manager. I have experience in residential, extra care, and domiciliary care. Whilst working as a Care Worker, I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Wellbeing, achieving a 2:1.


In my role as the Care Manager, I ensure the client’s needs are person-centred, carry out regular care plan reviews/assessments and ensure clients are satisfied with the high standard of care delivered. I also ensure the team are compliant with CQC requirements and Home Instead Franchise Standards.
To me, working with Home Instead isn’t a job, it is a family. The ethos of the company really caught my attention, somewhere that recognised the value of personalised care and improving quality of life.


It is a rewarding job, my passion for care thrives me to provide personalised care tailored to the client’s needs and deliver a high standard of care with our trained CAREGivers. Putting a smile on someone’s face and a small gesture makes the job even greater.
Outside of work, I like to socialise and spend time with family and friends. I like to go on adventures, the gym, love mini-golf, watch Netflix, spas and going to restaurants.
