I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and her team. They have supported my mother through the challenge of Covid and have been caring, responsive, flexible and reliable throughout. As a manager, she is outstanding and her dedication and commitment to her role is exemplary. I have no hesitation
in recommending Helping Hands and commend the hugely important care work that these amazing people undertake on behalf of society.

We have been very pleased with the service - all staff are cheerful and chatty whilst getting on with food prep etc.
The service has also been very flexible and would have no hesitation in recommending.

The care Mum has received has been professional and sensitive. Mum has found the carers to be kind and helpful. We have found the team to be reliable and responsive to requests for adjustments. It has been a relief to have Helping Hands provide the care that Mum has needed.

Mum has dementia and the carers have enabled her to stay in her own home with her beloved cat. She is very happy and enjoys their company. They are very caring and efficient and go above and beyond. If I have any worries or concerns the manager quickly resolves these and I feel we work well together.

The ongoing care service provided for our mother has continued to be professional, thorough and friendly.
Carers do not elevate their voices at Mum because it is understood that Mum is not deaf.
Carers are considerate in understanding that family members (namely son, daughter and son-in-law) may visit
to carry out tasks themselves or simply make short, caring visits at the same time; carers will either continue their work uninterrupted or kindly engage in conversation with siblings and Mum (client) for planning purposes.
Communication between carers and Mum is good and between carers and the family also good, as emailed requests sent from the family are forwarded to the relevant carer immediately and action carried out accordingly.
Cleaning is thorough and checks (by asking Mum) on tablets are carried out after lunch and at teatime each shift.
If necessary, carers thoughtfully ask questions of the immediate family, when latter is present, in order to maintain clear communication.

They are extremely efficient, I am given a rota of who will visit and the time they will come, what is unusual is that they come at the time the rota tells me. They are all kind and pleasant to welcome into my home and willing to go to the nearby shop and/or chemist.
I will say the only criticism
I have is that most of the carers have no knowledge or interest in the minor things that bother us, such as incontinence, constipation etc. With goodwill, they clear up after our mess. I welcome the carers' smile when they arrive.

Helping Hands have been extremely flexible, understanding and proactive in their support of our stepmother who lives on her own, is beginning to suffer more and more from memory loss but remains stubborn and a challenge! We are grateful for the attention and dedication that Helping Hands have demonstrated
to date and especially for the times when they have visited when passing by just to check that all is well.

We contacted helping hands as mum was needing care, we arranged a meeting they arrived on time and we got on very well from the start and could see mum was feeling very comfortable so we filled in the necessary paperwork and care started the following week. Mum and myself and sister are very pleased
with Helping Hands and was just what was needed.

Our family has been working with Helping Hands for a number of years and always received good service. Over the past 6 months our care requirements have increased and the Manager and her colleagues within Helping Hands, Portishead team have gone over and above their service requirements to look after
our Mother to keep her living at home during these uncertain times.

My wife has required support since a lengthy spell in hospital over 18 months ago. Helping Hands has provided this 2 mornings a week, in particular with a prescribed exercise routine, followed by a chat over coffee. This support has been invaluable.

We started having Helping Hands to come in to see Mum for an hour in the mornings to help her get organised for the day. Mum has Alzheimer’s and since the carers started she had a fall and has lost some confidence. All the carers have been very kind and genuinely caring as well as very efficient. It’s
very reassuring to know that someone is going in every day and Mum really enjoys the company. The support from the manager in the office has also been very efficient. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Helping Hands.

A couple of months ago, I contacted Helping Hands Home Care in order to provide a little companionship for my mother. Due to the Covid situation she’s afraid to go out and therefore, doesn’t see many people to talk to. It really has made a difference, and Mum now looks forward to her weekly visit by
one of the lovely, friendly and thoughtful careers. They really are amazing and so dedicated in their work. We would definitely recommend Helping Hands Home Care for care and support.

We were very impressed with the professional and speedy response from Helping Hands when we asked them to visit Mum daily after a short spell in hospital. It’s great to know that she is eating a good lunch every day and the companionship is a great healer. We particularly thank the care manager for
all her help.

My mother required some additional support at home following a hospital discharge and I made contact with Helping Hands Home Care to discuss what they may be able to offer. From my first telephone conversation, first home visit and now subsequent regular support, the carers and senior staff have been
helpful, responsive and accommodating to help my sister and I meet our mother's varied needs. Our mother reports that the carers are kind and attentive and it is reassuring to have peace of mind knowing there is a reliable care agency we can call upon if we need more help in the future.
