The companionship provided to my Dad has been excellent. A professional, caring and reliable team who we will be in touch with again as my parents’ care needs change. It’s been reassuring to know that there is a local company who are able to provide an excellent bespoke care package.

The lady that completed the review for my mum was lovely and listened to everything both myself and my mum had to say with empathy and respect. Overall, very happy with the service provided and the carers that attend.

I approached Home Instead after reading their website - I immediately felt that the company would understand my Mum's health problems and be able to provide a professional caring service.
The first visit to meet Mum and understand her needs was a friendly and well structured event. Mum was wary of
having strangers in the house but they immediately put her at ease and got her chatting.
Within a few days of me saying 'yes please' the staff had matched one of their caregivers to Mum. A local person who could talk about the 'old days' went down very well. As time went on and the visits increased to match Mum's needs, the additional caregivers took notice of Mum's hobbies and interests always trying to engage her and make the visits interesting. The caregivers were generally always the same people and no sessions were ever missed despite Covid.
I always felt supported by the staff as well; Alzheimer's affects all the family and they were always at the end of a phone when needed.

The service provided is done professionally and with care and attention at all times. I feel reassured in the knowledge my mother is safe in their hands and is being cared for by a team of people who enjoy what they do, with customer care, safety and attention top priorities.

Home Instead have been such a support to our family. The care is expensive but they meet almost everything we ask, from short notice appointments or taking Mum to covid tests to picking up medication or shopping Mum has run out of. Then the everyday tasks of giving medication, making meals, cleaning
and being a listening ear.
They are well trained and patient with Mum, politely forceful enough to get essential jobs done, that Mum is reluctant to do. Without the care she receives Mum could not live independently and I could not manage living at a distance.

The process of arranging care was first of all a visit to our home for information gathering which was done in a friendly way. This was followed up with a visit to check on health and safety issues ie where is the stop tap/egress in case of fire etc so this gave me peace of mind about leaving my husband
with a carer in order to have some respite myself. The carers are normally the same people and anyone new is introduced to us attending with a known carer initially again gives me peace of mind. I have found all the carers to be helpful and professional. The staff at the office have always been contactable when I have had a query or wanted to change the hours. They are always up-beat and ask how I am as well as my husband. We have never had a session missed or people late despite covid. I feel that they have all become friends as well as professional care givers.

We have been using Home Instead for the last 5-months to help with care/respite for my parents. My mum has been diagnosed with Parkinson's/Dementia; she is quite fit physically, it is the day to day tasks that she was struggling with, and my dad was finding it hard to know how to help her, especially
with personal hygiene. They have one main carer who is fantastic, and Mum really gets on with; she goes that extra mile and notifies us of anything she thinks we should be aware of. She really cares about "her ladies". They have also introduced other carers as well so that Mum isn't totally reliant on one person. They too are well matched to my parents. This gives us peace of mind, and we feel reassured that they would contact us immediately if there were any problems. The office staff too are very approachable and friendly and try to make everything personal to you. They helped us increase the care seamlessly in a way that was acceptable to our parents.

Since my Mum has become a user of Home Instead we have had a small peace of mind. They take care to ensure she has the same small cohort of carers visiting her so she gets used to them. They have time, there’s no rush to get to the next client. As a result, my mum hasn’t sent them ‘packing’! Being a
very feisty 90-year old who thinks she is still a spring chicken and can do everything herself they have developed a good relationship with her. The staff at the office are well informed and nothing is too much trouble. Can’t fault them at all. Any concerns are quickly passed on, in or out of office hours.

My cousin became confused and forgetful during the first lockdown. As I live on the other side of the country, I needed a company I could trust to look after my elderly cousin and to keep me informed. Home Instead have fitted the criteria. I cannot visit at the moment due to Covid and Lancashire in
Tier 3 and now Tier 4 but I know she is being well looked after. The staff are caring and either they or the management will contact me if there is an issue. They tried to make Christmas as cheerful as possible. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

This is a really good service. Over the time mum and our family have been connected with Home Instead, we have been very pleased with the care mum has received and the administrative aspects of the organisation's contact with us. In particular this month, mum's helper was on hand when mum received some
very difficult news of the death of her only sibling. The helper was so calm and helpful to mum and stayed with her to make sure she was ok. They have developed a good relationship over the past year and it is reassuring for the peace of mind of the family to know mum's helper is calling in twice a week. Thank you so much to all of you!

Home Instead is the best care agency I have experienced both personally for my mum and professionally as a manager of support services for a wide variety of needs. The caregivers go over and above to give person-centred care and my mum has been receiving care for over 5 months without my issue. It's
a very bespoke service and the whole organisation is involved in making life easier and more fulfilling for her. She is a very independent 81-year-old and this service has been perfect for her. It has also been great in giving our family peace of mind in knowing she is receiving fabulous care. I couldn't recommend them enough. Wonderful service, wonderful staff.

The team at Home Instead have been marvellous throughout the pandemic caring for my aunt and keeping me informed of her health and wellbeing, as well as updating me on anything she requires or issues with her home. They have never let us down and my aunt sees familiar faces all the time.
I visited
recently for the first time in a few months and my aunt looked well, she was very happy and complimented the carers who look after her. My aunt's home was clean and tidy too.
This is definitely a five-star service.

Introducing Peter Catlow, Owner of Home Instead East Lancashire.

My first experience of social care was when my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

As with many couples of that generation, my Mum was ‘married for life, in sickness and in health’ and was determined to keep Dad at home. The rest of the family supported that decision and we all worked together to keep her desire a reality.

However, as in many similar situations, the responsibility and the majority of the effort was taken on board by my Mum, but this started to affect her health and well-being. We tried respite care and other support for her but unfortunately, the standard of care and being away from home seemed to affect Dad in a negative way and he always came home in a worse state. This had the knock-on effect of creating more stress for Mum.

Sadly, Dad passed away but the experience of his last years lives on with us all. If there can be a plus side though, looking after Dad gave us an insight into social care, how beneficial living at home is and how important having true, personalised relationship-led support is.
Looking after Dad had taken its toll on my Mum but by the time she needed help I had founded Home Instead and I was able to give her the best support possible with our wonderful staff. This gave the family freedom to visit mum regularly but more spontaneously, and provide more well-being happy visits. It also gave us time to sort out other life and house issues leaving the personal care and home help to trained professionals. This suited us all especially mum who had her daily ‘friends’ supporting her with personal care and day to day chores enabling the family to enjoy quality social visits with her.

This wonderful Home Instead support is there for everyone; care is based around building relationships and developing trust. Our CAREGivers come from all walks of life but they all have the same desire- the desire to look after people like they would their own mum and to keep them in their own homes for as long as possible.

My job now is about growing the Home Instead business but also making sure that our standards remain consistent, supporting our staff and ensuring clients and their families are satisfied with their care. I will never forget why I started Home Instead and the founding principles will always be at the heart of everything I do.

The door is always open for you or your family to pop in and chat further about how Home Instead in East Lancashire can help you. Alternatively, you can give me a call.

Having started out as a CAREgiver when our franchise first began in 2012, I can vouch for first-hand that at the very heart of our company is a pride and passion for delivering high-quality care that enables our older people to stay safely and happily in their own homes.

As Operations Manager I’m often at the front-line listening to what matters most to families, assessing their needs and wishes and putting a plan into action. It is very rewarding to match CAREgivers with clients and see strong relationships grow, built on trust and compassion.

I love that no two days are ever the same.

Our staff are carefully selected and receive ongoing support to be the best they can be in all aspects of delivering our personalised care.

We understand the difficulties that families can face when trying to get loved ones to accept help. This is why we promote independence wherever possible and ensure that our CAREgivers give their support with sensitivity and warmth as well as skill and efficiency.

I am very proud to be part of a team that is so dedicated to making a real difference to the people that we support."

I joined Home Instead East Lancashire in 2019 as a CAREGiver. I thoroughly enjoyed my caring journey, meeting all the lovely clients and working as part of a fantastic team.

My background is in hospitality where I organised large-scale corporate and charity events. My proudest moment was meeting Her Majesty the Queen when I was honoured to be part of the task force arranging her Diamond Jubilee visit to Accrington.

I have enjoyed the challenge of transitioning to the Care Sector and have found many transferable skills along the way. I find the role extremely rewarding, helping individuals stay in their own homes and helping them to retain as much independence as possible.

I love being involved in the training journey of all our CAREGivers from the initial interview through to the completion of all mandatory training. I enjoy sharing all my CAREGiver stories and seeing their passion and enthusiasm for caring grow.
