Better Care at Home East has provided care for my mother and father from August 2020 to date. Sadly my mother passed away in October 2022. Since then, they have cared for my father 24/7, and he is very happy. The staff are well-trained, friendly and caring. They ensure that my father is well looked
after, and they raise any issues of concern with me without delay. I am kept very well informed through the reports each carer put online after their shifts.

I find that every one of the carers diligently attends to my wife and diligently makes sure all her needs are attended to in regard to food, dressings and personal care. They also help with obtaining medicines, prescriptions etc. from doctors and pharmacies.

Better Care at Home has provided my wife with care for a period of almost five years, excellent service of care, indeed outstanding. The staff are extremely well trained and monitored and they are a delight to welcome to ones home. I have no hesitation in recommending Batter Care to people in a similar

I am so grateful for the way that the manager and her wonderful team of carers looked after my husband. Nothing was too much trouble, and they appreciated his sense of humour. They also helped me in many ways, including babysitting my husband whilst I had a welcome hour or two-break. I cannot praise
or recommend them highly enough.

All the girls from Better Care are fantastic. They help me with medication, shopping, cleaning, washing and all food preparation, visits to the hairdresser.
Don't know what I would do without them. They keep me company and make me laugh.

All the staff I have met are friendly, caring, professional and lovely. They learnt my dad's personal preferences quickly and remember them. The carers always come at the time provided; they are friendly and cheerful despite the early hours. They help when I have a shower and make sure that I don't get cold or slip. Basic shopping will be delivered either the same day or at their next visits - a great help.

When my sister, who has Parkinson's dementia, was unable to live independently I was anxious to find suitable home care. After contacting a number of agencies in the Christchurch area, we came across Better Care. After meeting with the manager, I was reassured that Better Care could provide exactly
the kind of support my sister needed. All of the carers were kind and cheerful and my sister loved having them in her home. They ensured that she was well looked after and that she took all her medication on time. They also let me know how she was and raised any issues of concern. When my sister suddenly needed more support, the manager managed to reorganise her care staff at very short notice so that this was possible. In the end, my sister needed 24-hour care and so she went into a nursing home. The carers prepared her for this transition and packed up everything that she needed. Undoubtedly this made leaving home and going into a new environment much less stressful. I strongly recommend Better Care.

I am so happy to be given this opportunity to spread the word about this remarkable care agency. You looked after my 94-year-old mother and treated her with respect and kindness in a way and could honestly not imagine being surpassed. I know you have knowledge and expertise and I would expect no less.
But you have the attitudes, patience and tolerance, respect for individuality and personalisation of the care you offer that is impressive, and this from all your people. It's nice to be accomplished in your work, but the greatest accomplishment is to show kindness to an elderly and vulnerable old lady. Kindness in our dealings with others is what truly matters. There isn't enough of it in our world. And you showed a similar understanding of her son's feelings. I must say that now my Mother has gone into residential care, I will miss you. You really do deserve your 'outstanding' rating.

Joannah Bishop

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2015

Joannah has always been a caring, compassionate person, striving to put the health, feelings and safety of others first. It was these traits that gave her the vision to form a care company that does just that. She is now trained to Gold Standard in End of Life Care, recently also undertaking Living Well Dying Training to become a Death Doula. Joannah also holds certificates in Dementia Care, Level 5 Lifesaving, Catastrophic Bleeding and a Distinction Diploma (level 3 & 5) in Health and Social Care, and it doesn’t end there, Joannah is constantly adding to her qualifications.


Joannah is a hands-on manager and forms part of the small, dedicated team of carers at BetterCare@HomeEAST.


Niamh

Niamh has a passion for caring and feels it’s only right to choose a vocation that is self-less. She began her journey as a fresh-faced carer with BetterCare@HomeEAST and has since embraced numerous promotional opportunities, culminating in her recent promotion to Business Development Care Manager in 2024.


Niamh has obtained several degrees in addition to her position at BetterCare, earning a BSc in Sports Therapy and an MSc in Physiotherapy. Niamh collaborates with our team and service users to develop bespoke assessments that support rehabilitation and re-enablement.

Leisa has a wealth of experience, in both care-homes and domiciliary care. She has an exceptional client-centric approach, committed to addressing the holistic needs of clients, and proposing innovate ideas to enhance care and wellbeing. She attends to each client on a regular basis to conduct “Spot Check” visits, monitoring baseline observations and conducting general property and wellbeing reviews.
