Home Instead West Lothian offers a range of personalised solutions to support clients and enable them to continue living independently in their own homes, where they feel happiest and most comfortable.

Clients are matched with their Care Professional based upon similar interests and backgrounds, so any practical help is wrapped in positive and fun discussions and activities. They are personally introduced to allow them to get to know one another prior to commencing care, and the same Care Professional will attend every visit at times that suit the client.

Providing visits that last a minimum of one hour gives the flexibility and time to do things to the highest standard, in the way that the client prefers, without feeling rushed.

Support ranges from companionship, light housekeeping and meal preparation to home from hospital services, personal care and dementia support.

Care Professionals also support clients outside of their home by accompanying them to appointments and on visits to their favourite places.

Home care is tailored to suit the needs of the individual and is available from a couple of hours a week, all the way up to 24 hours a day or live-in care.

My 101 year old very independent Aunt was taken seriously ill in January. Home Instead had been recommended to my young cousin who contacted them. Our initial meeting with the manager proved to be positive, empathetic and supportive, our needs immediately identified, suggestions made and a meeting
with my aunt who though very unwell was met by smiles from both of them. Our Aunt has bonded with the carers who are treating her with the dignity, respect and care she deserves at her great age. The daily app updates app are excellent and allows those who visit her daily to enjoy our visits and long chats as she reminisces over the many adventures she has had during her long life without the worry of caring for her needs. Night time care allows us to sleep without the extra stress of receiving late night emergency calls and though our Aunt would very much like to regain her independence I know she is appreciative of the swift reactions to her night time needs. Thank you Home Instead.

I am delighted with the care my Dad has been given with Home Instead. The staff are kind friendly and nothing is too much trouble. As a family we have asked for changes in Dad's care week on week and the staff have always been happy to oblige

I was delighted with our experience of Home Instead. They took great care to match their providers with my mum's personality, and it made a tremendous difference. They really took time to understand the person, and they have very good staff who were just right to give my mum the companionship which
was so important to her. Things also got done, as well as that, and with a very light but effective touch. Communication was very frequent and thorough too. I couldn't have asked for more and I would highly recommend Home Instead to anyone who needs this service.

I switched care provider to Home Instead to provide care for my elderly mum who has dementia in June 2023 after a bad experience with another West Lothian care provider.
From the onset, my mum has received fantastic care from the team and I can’t speak highly enough of the care pros.
My mum has had
some health issues over the past months and the team have been attentive and supportive to not only my mum but also myself to assist with her care/health.
I would highly recommend Home Instead and their care professionals in the event you are seeking care for a loved one.

The staff are all wonderful. They treat my mother with care and respect. My mum's wishes are always observed and her dignity is always respected. They spend time chatting with her and she can enjoy laughing with them. My mum has dementia and she sees them as welcome friends.
I trust the management
to support both my mum and me if changes are required to my mum's care and inform me of any concerns.
They do an excellent job of supporting and caring for my mum. They are invaluable.

Home Instead has been a massive help to my Mum over the past few months. They have enabled my Mum to stay at home through their excellent ongoing care. They have a number of care providers who over the course of the past few months have all built up positive relationships with my Mum, this has allowed
her to build up her confidence and also build a new network of people she can confide in and rely on. They have really met all expectations with their care, dedication and personal approach to my mum's needs, alongside providing advice which in turn has supported my mum's independence, which is the most important thing. The admin staff have also been a massive help, nothing is too much trouble for them and they have solved numerous issues at sometimes very short notice.
I’d recommend Home Instead to anyone needing help to ensure their loved ones can maintain their independence in the comfort of their own home.

Thank you for taking the time to share both your Mum's and your own experience of using our service. It's been wonderful to see her confidence and independence grow and develop along with her relationships with her regular Care Professionals.

Professional, reliable and caring are the words which come to mind when thinking about Home Instead. My mother-in-law has been using the service for over a year now and we have found them nothing but flexible and adaptable to her changing needs, for example, they arranged extra companionship visits
whilst a friend was away for an extended period. A surprise benefit has been the visits from other carers who cover holidays etc; at first reluctant, my mother-in-law now enjoys their visits as it lets her hear and talk about new things. The careful matching of all the carers to her is a testament to the background work all the team puts in to make this a first-class, professional and caring service, which as the name suggests is helping my mother-in-law remain in her own home - thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such wonderful feedback. We're delighted to hear that our matching process has been successful with your mother-in-law's Care Professionals and know that they all look forward to seeing and spending time with her.

The carers are efficient, understanding, kind, caring with lovely personalities making the days they come the best days of my week as I live alone so don't see people as my family don't live near me. When I started to plan to have help I thought of carers doing housework, I got that and much more, by
feeling special by the way I am treated.

I had to urgently get carers in for my mum in August 2022. Home Instead have been a godsend.
From the very beginning, the level of service and support has been outstanding. The caregivers are absolutely lovely and never make you feel they are rushed and I know my mum really looks forward to them coming
and having a good chat about things. They are responsible for giving out Mum's medication and I have total trust in them. Everyone I have had contact with from the manager down, have been brilliant. The app that they use to report on each visit is really helpful.

Reply from Graham Stevenson, Director at Home Instead (West Lothian)

Thank you for providing us with such a lovely review. I know your mum's Care Professionals look forward to their visits with her too, and we're glad that being able to review the times that they have visited and their notes from the visits via our app provides you with reassurance.

My mum has been using the service for about 18 months, having unfortunately lost another provider due to staffing difficulties. The assessment process was thorough and it was clear how the service worked and we have been able to make adjustments as Mum's needs have changed.
Communication is excellent,
I find it especially useful to check how Mum is via the app almost daily.
I am very impressed by the quality of the care my mother receives, the carers are clearly well-trained and competent, following the care plan agreed. Most importantly each has developed a relationship with my mother that is compassionate and caring. The service has been totally reliable and we have never been let down. Most importantly, my mother feels safe with her carers and I am reassured that they will raise any concerns they have very quickly.

This agency, in my opinion, is proving the best care in my area. The service user, my husband, was always treated with dignity and respect. The management of the care has been excellent. I couldn't have asked for better care for my dear husband and that included practical help and emotional support
for me as his principal carer. I would recommend Home Instead wholeheartedly.

My mother was in need of support with her personal care in her own home, after a significant amount of research I contacted Home Instead in September 2021. The team were understanding, empathetic of my situation and offered support with care quickly. This was much appreciated. The team of caregivers
were amazing, patient and true professionals. They quickly gained Mum’s trust showing her understanding of her personal needs which maintained her dignity despite the intimate nature of the support that was provided. My mum looked forward to their daily visits, which became the highlight of her day. The caregivers took time to chat with Mum and got to know her well, this was evidenced when she was admitted to hospital when she was visited by a member of her professional caregivers.
Thank you, which doesn’t really express my gratitude, to all Home Instead staff for the support/care you have provided to Mum and myself. I would highly recommend Home Instead as a service for a loved one.

We have been using Home Instead since November 2021 and are absolutely delighted with the service our mother/mother-in-law has received, she has continuity of care with, where possible the same carer seeing her on a daily basis, they are prompt and warm and friendly. They diary how she is on a daily
basis and what they have done with her which is a great help to us, they have been very accommodating with us as a family as her care needs have changed fairly rapidly and from request to actually putting extra care in place we were delighted that this was done almost immediately. The team take great care to listen to what is required and try to meet all requests where possible. We did not think our mother would accept care as readily as she has but this is down to the attitude of staff, they don't wear uniforms which brings a sense of normality to her care. Carers encourage her to get out and about and go above and beyond regularly. Cannot recommend this service highly enough.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback - our team are really fond of your mum and always look forward to their visits with her. The service provided to my Dad is superb. It is bespoke and individualised to meet his preferences. There is a real sense from the CareGivers of having got to know him and lots of examples of their thoughtfulness, above and beyond what is expected.
I can’t praise the team enough- it’s so reassuring
to have them involved.

I have been using Home Instead for almost 12-months to care for my relative. Home Instead has been keen to find caregivers who would have things in common with my relative and would be able to cope with both her dementia and physical needs. They do this admirably. They try, wherever possible, to take
the client out for coffee, encourage her to go for a walk, accompany her on medical appointments, and arrange hairdresser visits. On occasion, when sudden hospital admissions have occurred, they have taken items in as required and then collected and returned her home. They use their initiative, which is invaluable, and often suggests potential solutions to any domestic difficulties that arise. There is a great deal of diplomacy needed when dealing with a person with dementia, and Home Instead recognise this. Each caregiver follows the management prepared plan carefully, meaning nothing is missed. I have no hesitation in recommending this company for both its efficiency and compassion.

My dad has been a client of Home Instead Livingston since July and already my family and I can see a marked difference in my dad. From the initial contact right through to the provision of service, it has been so easy to communicate with the team and I was so impressed by their understanding and flexibility.
We set up a care package that met my dad’s needs and gave me peace of mind as his main carer. My dad, while wary at first of having people come into his home, has very much enjoyed the company of his caregivers and it has made quite a big difference to his daily life even in a relatively short time. They have particularly helped when unexpected problems occur such as power cuts! He was delighted when they appeared with a small gift and cake on his 90th birthday! It’s all these small touches that make a difference. Thank you!

I grew up in Livingston and decided to establish a Home Instead office in my local area after experiencing first-hand the difficulty of trying to find high-quality, personalised, care at home while looking for care and companionship for my grandmother.

During a successful career in the medical device sector, I regularly had discussions with healthcare professionals about the difficulties of finding the right support for older people in the community, and this reinforced my desire to do something to help change the way that care is delivered.

My goal is to ensure that the highest quality of care is available for our clients locally - and to help them to continue living in their own homes independently for as long as possible.

At Home Instead West Lothian our focus is providing non-medical companionship, home help and personal care services to older people across our local area. We are committed to the ongoing training and development of our Care Professionals, empowering and enabling them to provide the best possible service. All of our employees share in our belief – that only care that would be good enough for our own loved ones is good enough for our clients.

Home Instead West Lothian is constantly evolving and, in addition to overseeing daily operations, I can often be found out in the local community – looking for new ways to support older people and talking about what we can do to help.

I joined Home Instead as a Care Professional during the pandemic in November 2020. I had worked in call centres for most of my working life and, when I was made redundant, I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to pursue a more rewarding career. I had always been interested in caring, and during the lockdown, I would see news articles about the impact this was having on seniors and wanted to do something to help make a difference.

I applied to Home Instead as their values and approach to care matched the way that I believed care should be delivered. I wasn’t disappointed, and working as a Care Professional was incredibly rewarding - with no two days being the same.

When the position of Administrator became available, I applied as I knew that I would enjoy working behind the scenes at Home Instead. It didn't take long until I was then promoted to the role of Support Coordinator within the office team. I still love going out and visiting clients, but now I’ve also been able to see and become a part of all of the additional work and commitment that goes into making sure our clients and Care Professionals always receive the best possible experience.
