Care work has played a vital role in helping me learn and understand communication and complex health needs by socialising with people who may have communication difficulties and making information accessible. Providing physical and emotional support to different people with unique personalities, sense of humour, preferences, needs and aspirations, makes me realise just how much the role of a care worker is incredibly varied which is what is why I love my job.
I have achieved a better understanding of medicine management by working with health professionals to administer and support any medical needs.
I have also learned daily living and independent skills, budgeting and keeping active by helping people to get organised, plan their day, clean their homes, plan their meals, and carry out shopping tasks for them. It's not always an easy job as there will undoubtedly be days where you'll need to be emotionally strong and resilient. However, there will always be days that you'll smile, laugh and make memories that will last a lifetime.
