Having a stranger come into your home daily can initially be daunting. Quickly the carers from Helping Hands are not strangers, they become known to you. You can trust them and they see jobs that need to be done and do them. Their work is not rushed but time is not wasted. The carers vary young to old,
which we older people can delight in as it keeps us young also.

Very helpful in meeting the changing needs of my mother. A very useful portal that provides information on each visit by their staff. Would recommend them to anyone who needs help with daily routines, such as dressing, washing up etc.

It has been a great comfort to our family to know my Mum is getting help, support and company during the week when it's difficult for us to visit her. Our experience with all staff, whether carers or management, has been very positive. Everyone is friendly, professional and accommodating. Thank you!

Helping Hands have been a great support to Dad as he gets more frail and less able to do things for himself. The carers are reliable, kind and thoughtful. Nothing is too much trouble and Dad looks forward to their visit.
Staff are prompt to reply to me if I have any concerns and excellent at covering
extra sessions when needed.

We have used Helping Hands since February 2022, so nearly a year now. I have found the majority of the ladies kind and conscientious. Maybe a little more training for the new younger girls would help with some of the minor problems, but to be honest they all seem open to suggestions and try their best.
Their skills quickly improve.
We had four visits a day for the first ten months and then reduced this to three, but only because we were having difficulty funding four visits. I refused the offer by the Social Services of a cheaper company because we are very happy with the service from Helping Hands.
The managers are immediately responsive to any request and always contact us if there are any queries at all with my Mum's health or diet (for example).

Dad is 92 years young and doing very well. Although he is partially sighted, he still lives on his own and is very independent. He manages to get out and enjoy a walk in the village every day and my brother's wife, and other family members, go to dad's most days but they all work and, obviously, can't
be with him all the time. I don't live in the UK and so am not around to be able to help out. Dad doesn't need carers in the usual sense of the word because he is well able to take care of his own needs. He just sort of needed some companionship. His main gripe was that he wasn't able to get to 'the pub' where lots of old friends and acquaintances frequent a very traditional old pub. Google told me that Helping Hands will do whatever we want them to - it turned out that included taking Dad to the pub. What an absolute life changer that has been for him! Thank you Helping Hands!

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

It is my responsibility to ensure that our customers, staff and stakeholders receive a great experience from Helping Hands and that they also get the best care, support and service delivery possible.

I have always cared about people and had a passion from an early age to follow in the footsteps of my mum to become a care/support worker after seeing the job satisfaction that working in care gave her.

I can't wait to start working with like-minded people whose passion is care and kindness to others; together we will deliver!

I love spending time with family and friends. I have a husband and a young son Kaya, who has Aspergers - he keeps me on my toes! I love cooking, especially for family and friends. My hobbies are swimming, reading, going out with friends and watching a good drama series.

Experience and expertise

I joined the care sector in 1996 at the age of 19. My first experience of working in care was in a 60-bed nursing home for the elderly. I loved this role and enjoyed listening to the stories of the people that I was caring for, as well as knowing that I was helping to make a difference to someone.

I moved over to a learning disability provider in 2003 and stayed with this provider for 18 years. I held a number of positions from support worker progressing to branch manager. I supported individuals with a range of support and care needs including learning and physical disabilities, mental health, autism, complex needs and challenging behaviours.

I am passionate about the work that I do and strive to deliver high-quality care and support.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I have recently joined Helping Hands and one of the reasons that I felt Helping Hands was the provider for me was the impressive vision and values that they hold and the services that they can deliver - anything is possible!

My aim is to help grow and develop the business in the Barnsley area so that more people care to receive fantastic care and support from great, caring, kind people.
