Helping Hands (Swadlincote) have been caring for my mum since November 2023 and the care they give is excellent. All of the carers are helpful and friendly and assist Mum with her daily routines. They are also very considerate to my dad who doesn't require personal care himself and was at first reluctant
to have people in the house. One of the carers was a massive help to him when he had a medical issue himself and I was uncontactable - she contacted the necessary service and helped to get the problem resolved quickly for which we are very grateful. If ever we've had an issue to address or questions to ask the office and management team have been really helpful.

My grandma has been having care for just over 6 months now. Very happy with the service she has received and she loves the ladies who come to visit her, she usually has the same ones visiting her each morning which she really enjoys.

Helping Hands has been supporting my mother since September 2023 they offer a professional service with caring and cheerful staff. The carers are always respectful and supportive and their visits brighten my mother's day. They provide valuable feedback to my sister and I that ensures we are able to
we are giving the best possible support.
My mother is now funded by the NHS but we were able to continue with Helping Hands which we were delighted about as mum is familiar with the carers as they are with her.
We hear at lot of laughter during mum's support visits and she seems to enjoy the company of the carers even though she finds her personal care harder to understand or cooperate with. She is always given time and plentiful encouragement and reassurance during visits.
The only issue we would say we have had was with the out of hours service but we have raised this and understand that the issues are being addressed.

I can’t praise the Swadlincote team high enough since we started using them from the beginning of 2023, the care for my mum has been brilliant, the staff are very caring and friendly, it puts my mind at rest knowing they are supporting and caring for Mum. They always let me know if there are any issues
and help provide additional care when required.

The staff at Helping Hands are well trained in caring for patients who need assistance to shower, dress and help them with the daily routine. Ever since 2021 I started using the company after having a stroke they have been marvellous. Indeed the staff change quite often in the care business but when
new people start they are always introduced to Mum and I. Recently I have had a sinus operation and I had various infections and the staff have attended hospital and driving me to dental and GP appointments. Also when I was ill the carer telephoned 999 and stayed with me until the ambulance arrived. It is marvellous that many of them have become friends. Each week I receive an email with whom is visiting the following week. Management and office staff are so helpful that when I need extra support or change the time of carers they will always oblige me. I must say Helping Hands Swadlincote, due to the various staff members changes, they have been great and helpful at all times.

My mum received care from Helping Hands for the last few months of her life. Mum was 92 years old when she needed help and although she had reservations due to a poor experience with a different organisation, she agreed to have Helping Hands come into her life and home. She had regular visits by her
carers and she really enjoyed their visits. Nothing was too much trouble and she said “they treated me as me and not some daft old woman”

The care was provided with dignity and respect and I was alerted by the team if they had any concerns. The team made a huge difference to the quality of my mum's final days and were really flexible in their approach to suit my mum's needs.
Thank you.

Fantastic carers that sadly seem to be let down by some poor organisational management. Scheduling is often inaccurate and different carers arrive to those that were supposed to. I have problems with invoicing that are still not resolved from when I commenced using the service. In comparison, the carers
that come to look after me are absolutely fantastic and I have absolutely nothing but praise.

Thank you for your feedback.

I have taken on board the issues you have raised in regard to the change in rota and not being notified if there is a change with the carer. Moving forward I will ensure that if the carer is changed for any reason you will be notified with a new rota and a phone call.

In regard to your invoice, we have been in contact with each other and the billing department and this has now been resolved. If you have any further issues please contact me via email or call the branch.

Thank you again for your feedback.

The branch of Helping Hands Home Care (Swadlincote) seems to be split into two:
1) Home visit carers who are brilliant, they are all very caring and treat Mum with respect and fulfil her every need. They are great company for her and she enjoys their visits.
2) Management, since the new management
we have had issues with timing being moved without consent, and lateness of care workers due to the time allocated between previous calls. We have spoken to the management and they say things are going to change but doesn't improve when we do raise concerns we get talked over as if we're in the wrong.

Reply from Ravinder Takhar, Manager at Helping Hands Home Care (Swadlincote)

Hi Hazel

Thank you for taking the time to complete the feedback form.

Since you gave this feedback we have been in touch and have agreed that any changes to your mum's care call times will be notified to you via a phone call.
The care coordinator has looked at the allocation of calls and the times between the calls and again this matter has now been resolved.
I am sorry that you feel the communication with me was not acceptable.
The changes that we have made in regard to our communication with you and the changes to the call times will hopefully now be satisfactory.

Please contact me If you have any further concerns and I will be happy to address them.

Best wishes

Ravinder

Since first making an enquiry in July this year, I have been delighted with every aspect of the service offered by Helping Hands Home Care. They have a very professional and person centred approach to not only their clients but to extended families also. Communication has been frequent and open. I have
always felt I could be honest in my questions and the Carer allocated for my mother was such a great fit - we are delighted. My mother now looks forward to her twice weekly visits and the rest of the family are reassured that professional care is being given at all times.

Helping Hands Home Care recently moved its clients from their Lichfield branch to Swadlincote. I can honestly say the transition from one office to another has been seamless, efficient and professional. The Swadlincote team have guided me and my father through this administrative change and the service
quality delivered has not been affected. My father has excellent weekly helpers who are always kind, attentive and efficient. My father lives alone since losing his wife of 59 years; his weekly Helping Hands visits are now part of his regular routine, supporting my father so he can continue to live safely in his home. Our family is separated by geography due to unusual circumstances. Knowing someone from Helping Hands is there for my father every week provides reassurance and peace of mind to our whole family. Thank you to the entire Swadlincote Team.

Helping Hands came personally recommended by a current user and I must say it's rare these days to find anyone or anything that lives up to a "hype" but Helping Hands Home Care certainly does. The carers are punctual, reliable and immensely kind and careful to ensure dignity and care for their clients.
Should there be any possible hitch in meeting their timetable they are quick to flag it up and ensure a smooth service regardless. Also they are very good at communicating and anticipating any possible need for their clients before it arises, great initiative shown. A 5 star service award from me and my family who have witnessed the carers in action- great staff too. Thank you.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

As the Registered Branch Manager at Swadlincote, my main responsibility is to ensure that we deliver high quality, person centred care to our customers, ensuring their needs are met. In my role I take compliance very seriously and always adhere to the CQC regulations to ensure that we provide a Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well Led service for both customers and my staff.
My background is mainly in supported housing, which I worked in for over 16 years and I have a passion for helping people and making a difference in their lives. Both my parents worked for the NHS and in later years when my father was diagnosed with vascular dementia, my mother became his main carer and I supported her with this and saw first-hand how important it was to have good support for not only the vulnerable adult, but also their family.
I am so proud of our ever-expanding team of care assistants and their passion for providing excellent person centre care to our customers and to see the difference they are making already is fantastic and confirms I made the right decision coming here.
I have three grown up sons, Sam, Alex and Reece, a chocolate Labrador called Reggie and a Cavachon called Lola who are my world. In my spare time I love to travel, socialise with friends and going for long walks with Reggie and Lola and my guilty pleasure is reality TV!

My experience and expertise

I started my working career in clerical and administration working up to a personal assistant and then on to being a legal secretary but as I got older, I felt something was missing and that I wanted to help people and make a difference and so I took the brave decision of a whole new change in career! I went and got a temporary job as a Careline emergency call operator working in 24 hour/365 days a year control room and found I absolutely loved it as I was providing an emergency service to the elderly and vulnerable in the area and after 6 months, I was taken on permanently. After a while I was promoted to a supervisor over the control room and the supported housing team. In order to expand my knowledge, I secured a job with another authority as a Supported Housing Manager overseeing the emergency Careline team and the floating support service and consistently achieved TSA accreditation for the service I managed and attained my CIH Level 4 Certificate in Housing Practice. I then took another leap of faith and took a promotion to also manage the tenancy management team within the authority.

Since joining Helping Hands in June 2021, I have gained Registered Manager status and I am currently studying my Level 5 in Leadership and Management.

Why I chose Helping Hands

When I saw that Helping Hands were opening a new branch in Swadlincote, I decided to take yet another leap of faith and take on a new challenge within domiciliary care and what better way to start a new career than to join the leader in the care sector and an award-winning homecare provider! I am excited to be part of such an amazing company who has a foundation of kindness and who supports and believes in its staff and their progression and I am grateful that I was given the chance to show the difference me and my team can make to our amazing customers.
