Living at Home is a local home care organisation that offers care and support to its customers in order to enable them to stay as independent as possible in their own homes.

They work with customers to provide flexible, personalised home care that is tailored to their unique requirements and given when they need it.

Living at Home's objective is to assist customers to stay in their own homes and live under their own roof, surrounded by their own belongings, while they follow their own set of rules. Home care services include home help, companionship, personal care, dementia care, and support.

Home care is more than simply delivering care. Living at Home believes that care should be as individual as the people they serve and support.

They match clients with the right individual carer and choose carers based on how they act and what they believe, as well as their knowledge of how to assist older people and their families.

They do this so that carers' interests, hobbies, and personalities may be precisely matched to clients and they can become the friendly faces that clients grow to know and trust.

The level of care provided to my mum is of a very high standard. All the carers are professional in carrying out their duties and also take time to sit and chat giving the care that extra personal touch.

Really happy with the service the carers provide. They are always punctual, obliging and professional. I do not live near my dad so it is very reassuring to know he is well looked after and that I can click on the App for a report on each visit. Highly recommended.

Living at Home in Swansea has done a great job taking care of my mother-in-law. When she received an unsafe discharge from the hospital and had to go home alone, we couldn't do anything without them. They went above and beyond to take care of her. Amazing communication and nice caregivers who work hard
to help adults who are vulnerable and get stuck in hospital, bed blocking due to unhelpful social workers! We can't give them enough thanks. They really were a lifesaver. Thank you!

Since December of last year, Living at Home has taken great care of our Mother. After my dad died and her blended dementia symptoms got worse, it was clear she needed help and support to remain in the house she loved. After the first few times, she said, "I don't need any help," Mother quickly came
around and looked forward to her wonderful care professionals coming every day. As my mother's needs changed, we were able to give her more help and companionship every day, and this was never an issue for Living at Home. She looked forward to seeing her friends (carers) every day. Living at Home helped and reassured us as a family. They listened to our worries and came up with answers. The way they work is very professional, and never has our call been met with anything but love and concern, as if they were just part of our family.
Thank you so much, the manager and her wonderful team.

My father's care was overseen by his carer, who was really pleasant to all of us. My father's carer was so amazing; kind, efficient, and capable of dealing with any situation. We had every reason to believe that our father was in excellent hands, and that was most definitely the case.

At our initial encounter with Living at Home, we were impressed by their professionalism and sensitivity. They were able to provide us with the care plan mum needed and enrolled us in an app that allowed us to keep track of our mothers' visits and report any problems, and this was quite beneficial to
us. At first, mum was unimpressed with having carers, but she warmed up to them and even told them she was going to miss them when the visits came to an end. Nothing was too much for the team of carers given they were professional, well-trained, and very kind. We can say that having peace of mind that your loved ones are getting the best care is what we got with Living at Home. We would strongly recommend them, and we would not hesitate to call them again if we needed more assistance.

My father in law has relied on Living at Home for assistance with his morning routine following a brief stay in the hospital in his later years. The carer not only arrived on time but also with smiles and a fantastic sense of humour, which he appreciated. They'd encourage him to go to the bathroom on
his own, but they'd always be there to help with enabling. The carer allowed him to accomplish as much as he could on his own while providing him with the necessary help in a safe and dignified manner.
They have no qualms about going the extra mile to help him. They have eagerly supported his daily physio regime, which has shown to be quite beneficial. We can only thank everyone for making us happy and giving us that sense of security and confidence when we needed it the most.
Thank you very much, ladies, for a fantastic job well done.

Following a time of illness in the hospital, Living at Home has offered fantastic support to our dad. We didn't know who to turn to when dad returned home, and the family needed extra help due to job and family obligations. After we chose Living at Home as a local care provider, the process of getting
care was very quick and easy. There has been great communication at all levels. When dad was being cared for, everyone treated him with the utmost respect and dignity, and they always kept the same person caring for him. Living at Home has been able to respond quickly and effectively to dad's evolving care needs as well as our irregular family visits. We understand that this can place a strain on care teams at short notice, but what this has meant to the family, particularly our father, is reflected in his remarkable recovery and the faith we now have in the care sector. Everyone's assistance in supporting dad's recuperation so that he may now live independently is greatly appreciated.

Joanne, or Jo as she is also known to many, entered the care sector after caring for her mum, who sadly died in 2016.

For years leading up to Joanne’s mums’ passing, she worked with healthcare professionals trying to make effective changes to allow her mum to live the best quality of life possible with her medical conditions.
During the many years she helped her mother, many problems arose because her mother didn't get enough good care and support.

What this period taught Joanne was how difficult it was to find relevant information and support from the many different professional organisations operating in Swansea and the wider areas.

From that point, Joanne would do whatever she could to help and support any vulnerable person in a similar position to find the help and support they deserved to receive.

Joanne has a natural passion for caring for and helping others and strives to make vulnerable adults live the best possible life they can live in somewhat difficult circumstances.

During her time working on the front-line in the health sector, Joanne found her niche.

Joanne is a natural listener, and this has allowed her to build a strong rapport with staff, health professionals, clients, and family members.

Joanne is a natural problem solver and leader who would aim to resolve any issues that would arise immediately, sometimes meaning she would be once again on the front line, sitting for hours with a client who may have fallen whilst they waited for an ambulance together, chatting and listening to a client’s family on the occasion of bereavement or just rolling her sleeves up to assist one of her team - for Joanne, going the extra mile is just who she is.

At the beginning of 2021, another tragedy struck Joanne sadly, as she lost her brother, who struggled with mental health difficulties. Having experienced the loss of two close family members, Joanne decided to open her own care company to be in a position to better support the most vulnerable in society.
Joanne supports many charities like MIND, Alzheimer’s Society, Diabetes, and Cancer Research UK, to name but a few.

Joanne recently signed up to complete the "Step up for Dementia", doing 850,000 steps in 3 months. Alongside that, Joanne is a Dementia Ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society and often goes into the community to give talks to dispel some of the common myths about dementia.
A passion of Joanne’s is to meet with her clients and their families as often as possible. The Living at Home ethos is that we are all one big family and close communication is her top priority.

Joanne says,
At Living at Home, we believe that the quality and consistency of our care, as well as the relationships we build with our clients, are important parts of our work.

We give care and support based on our clients' preferences, so they choose the timing and agree on every detail of their care plan before we start.

What is hugely important to me is consistency, and we use the same care professionals every time with the same clients, and we introduce them to our clients upfront to make sure they are comfortable with them.
Living at Home believes that excellent care shouldn’t be delivered in short visits, so we always look to deliver 60-minute appointments, but we do recognise that not all people require 60 minutes, and so we develop a plan that suits all.

I believe this ethos allows us to provide compassionate care and go above and beyond to improve our clients' quality of life.

I am excited to see Living at Home evolve, and I want to make a difference in people’s lives every single day, not only for our clients, their families but also our amazing care professionals who are now also known as Key Workers.

Rachel Court – Why I want to support our amazing Swansea communities

Rachel has been working in the social care sector for eight years while raising her two young children. She explains why she wants to support her Swansea communities.

As a young mother looking to provide for her family, Rachel began working part-time in the care sector. Despite having no prior experience and some initial uncertainty about care work, she soon fell in love with her job as a support worker.

It was clear to her before long that this was her true calling in life, giving her the assurance she needed to resign from her main job and become a full-time support worker.

A motivating reason for Rachel was the role she could play in serving her community, which she identified as being in need of better quality care.

It’s critical we make a difference

From the very beginning of her career, Rachel has been steadfast in her commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care services to each and every one of her clients.

Motivated by her dedication to social care, she has acquired extensive knowledge of the care sector and its regulations, allowing her to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

With her education, experience, and knowledge, Rachel manages Living at Home’s care service and helps her team of care professionals go above and beyond for the clients they support every day, having a positive role in their lives as if they are family.

Rachel is a calm, sympathetic, polite, approachable, and professional member of the Living at Home team. Every aspect of Rachel’s personality leaves her clients impressed.

So, what does Rachel do in her spare time?

When Rachel is not working tirelessly for her team and clients, she can be found relaxing with family and friends, while sipping on a cappuccino, her favourite hot beverage.

Rachel is just as dedicated to her family as she is to Living at Home.

She loves to travel and has a particular fondness for the Andalucía region in Spain.

Rachel’s little-known fact is that she appeared in a music video for the hugely successful pop punk band Busted in the early 2000s and can play the kazoo!

Living at Home is fortunate to have such a dedicated, passionate, and hardworking individual on their hands who takes the initiative and doesn’t ask anyone to do anything she wouldn’t do herself.
