When a rota is issued with timings, carers should make every effort to adhere to the times listed. Breakfast at 10.30 am or evening meal at 4.00 pm is not acceptable. when preparing meals please remember, as a general rule, elderly people do not have a huge appetite. Need better communication with the
client before throwing away food and other items.

We found the experience of helping hands staff Cannock to be outstanding. The ease of communication was excellent and the service provided to my mum four times a day was outstanding with carers punctual, polite, personable and lovely with my mum who liked them all very much. The carers went beyond the
call of duty and really showed they cared.

Job Title: Branch Care Manager

About me

Hello, I'm Claire. I have been working for Helping Hands since September 2019. I started as a carer and have progressed to the branch care manager role.

As a branch care manager, my main role and responsibility are to ensure we provide our service users with high-quality service. To achieve this, I will meet with customers to gain feedback on regular basis, to ensure they are happy with our service, to meet with potential new customers face-to-face and support our wonderful care team to ensure they have regular supervision, appraisals and have the relevant training needed.

I decided to move into the care industry as I wanted to support people to remain independent within their own homes, but also safely. I love listening to people's life stories and taking the time to get to know them. Sometimes, that listening ear makes a big difference.

Within my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. We enjoy activities such as walking our family dogs and being creative within the kitchen.

Experience and expertise

I have lived in the Walsall area all my life, and before moving into the care industry, I worked as a bus driver. While working for this company, I also completed a manager's role. I started in the care industry in 2018 and have never looked back. During this time, I have completed the carer role, moving onto office-based roles including care coordinator, before moving into the branch care managers role.

I have undertaken many training courses, including COSHH and leadership training within my previous company. I have also completed my NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care and currently working towards my NVQ Level 5 Leadership in Adult Care.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I applied for the position of carer with Helping Hands, as I loved their values and the fact they are all based around kindness, as I feel kindness is a must in this industry. From the very early days within Helping Hands, I knew it was a company where I would love to progress and the company have been very supportive of this.

Within my role as a branch care manager, I hope to support individuals who wish to remain in their own homes as safe as possible. I love to support my team to also be the best they can be and pass on any knowledge I have gained.

As a branch care manager, I love the fact that I get to meet people from all walks of life, listen to their stories and bring a smile to their faces. To me the most important thing is happiness and I will ensure my team and customers are happy.
