Colleen has over 20 years experience in a variety of managerial roles within the domiciliary care sector, and is now the registered manager here at Valley Care Direct Barnsley and Rotherham.

When asked why she enjoys her role, she states that when she started working in the care sector, the standards weren't always upheld or maintained and she wanted to help make changes to improve this.
Developing her skills and knowledge in a way that supported positive change.

Toni commenced her career following a placement she had taken whilst at college, what should have been a four weeks placement resulted in a 7 year employment at the place of placement and now has contributed to over 25 years of service within the industry, ranging roles from care and support worker, lead care coordinator, and registered branch manager, in a number of different settings across the sector.

Molly transitioned from dental care to domiciliary care 8 years ago and has worked as a care and support worker, an assessment officer and a care coordinator mainly covering the Doncaster area but has working knowledge of Barnsley and Rotherham alike.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, she said the enjoyment comes from knowing people can remain at home with excellent care and support for as long as they choose to.

Lilly started as a care and support worker after leaving school at 16.
She is now studying towards a level 3 in leadership and management qualification following her appointment of her new role.

Domiciliary care is a world on its own. It never stops, constantly changes and no two days are ever the same. There are good days and bad days but even the bad days make you appreciate the job so much. Knowing that you have helped someone and supported them when they really needed you and all in the comfort of their own home is an honour. I started care at 20 and fell quite accidentally into my career but now can't see myself anywhere else. Every service user is part of my huge family of grandparents; and going above and beyond for them is something I worship. I must say I’m extremely lucky to have a job I admire and that I’m so passionate about.

Throughout my career I have worked for many companies. Always struggling to find a management that actually cares and I can connect with, until I found Valley Care Direct. Not only did I receive plenty of support but actually felt appreciated and like I fit in. It’s by far the longest I have stayed working for anyone; which is a big achievement for them as I’m pretty picky with what I want from my company. So I must say we have a long and bright looking future together with Valley Care.
