I have worked in care for 34 years from the age of 18. I have worked in various settings, including residential care, nursing care, and complex care. I worked for North Yorkshire County Council for 17 years. I started as a resource worker (home help) and worked my way up into the Adult Social Care Team as a Social Care Coordinator where I was responsible for assessment and provision of social care services.
I then went on to work for North Yorkshire Police as a Communications Officer. I went back into care services as I missed the direct contact with the public, this is where I can make the most difference to people's lives.
I work in care to make a difference and the skills and knowledge that I have gained and developed are put to the best use.
I am passionate about making a difference in people’s lives when they most need it while doing a good job and making sure the best lives are lived.

I care about the people we look after and the staff that work here. I am passionate about keeping people safe, happy and healthy and keeping them in their own homes.

My family are important to me, and I apply this to my work in how I care for our clients and support our staff. I believe in good standards, protecting vulnerable people, dignity and respect and fairness. I enjoy my work and find it rewarding and fulfilling, there nothing else I would rather do.
