As a Care Worker for Cherished Care Services, you will be helping to enable people in the Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge area to live as independently as possible in their homes by providing the best standards of care and support. As a care worker, you do one of the most important jobs in the community today. In everything you do, you’ll need to think about the care and support you provide from the service user’s point of view, so that you're working in a person-centred way, and respecting their rights and choices. By helping service users to carry out every day tasks you make a big difference to their lives.

As a care worker you are:

  • Supporting people to live independently at home, so they can continue to live in the way they wish. This helps maintain their individuality, independence and self-esteem

  • Helping to maintain their health and wellbeing through the support you offer.
  • Supporting people to make their own decisions about day to day life, such as what to wear, buy or eat.
  • Providing social contact. A friendly face and a chat can be important for everyone, especially those who live on their own.
  • Helping other careers – such as service user’s family members, to continue to care for their loved one

Your day to day duties will include:

  • Assisting with all elements of personal care, to ensure clients are supported in being as independent as possible in preparation for their day ahead.
  • Assisting clients in getting washed and dressed,
  • Preparing meals, prompting and assistance with taking medication.
  • Light household tasks
  • Offering companionship and helping build clients con dence and independence

Your work will be very rewarding but it is complex and can be sometimes challenging. It goes without saying you will need to be caring, compassionate and empathetic. You will need to develop a range of professional skills, knowledge and personal attributes. We provide the support and training to help you focus on building relationships with your clients, their families and your colleagues.
