Job Summary

Brighter Dawn is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Female Health Care Assistant to join our team of four regular carers providing double-handed care. The successful candidate will support male and female service users, delivering high-quality, gender-sensitive care tailored to their individual needs.

The service user requires assistance due to:

  • Dementia

  • Mobility challenges

  • Feeding support (non-PEG)

  • Incontinence and personal care needs

The care plan includes the following scheduled visits:

  • Morning Call: 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM

  • Lunch Call: 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM

  • Evening Call: 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM

Key Responsibilities

1. Personal & Medical Care

  • Assist service users with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.

  • Ensure their comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.

  • Administer medication as directed and document all care provided.

  • Monitor vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse) and report any changes in health status.

  • Support safe moving and handling, including the use of hoists and mobility aids.

2. Support & Engagement

  • Provide emotional and social support, ensuring service users feel valued and respected.

  • Encourage independence where possible while offering appropriate assistance.

  • Communicate concerns and observations with nurses, managers, or family members.

  • Assist with activities that promote mental stimulation and well-being.

3. Environment & Equipment Management

  • Maintain cleanliness and infection control in the care environment.

  • Assist in managing incontinence care products and ensure hygiene protocols are followed.

  • Operate and maintain medical and mobility equipment, reporting any malfunctions.

  • Ensure all care-related equipment is used safely and appropriately.

4. Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately record patient information, care activities, and observations in care plans.

  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

  • Adhere to policies and procedures set by Brighter Dawn and relevant authorities.

  • Complete risk assessments and follow care plans effectively.

5. Teamwork & Development

  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care.

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

  • Stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes in domiciliary care.

  • Attend team meetings and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).

  • Previous experience in domiciliary care, home care, or care home settings (new graduates welcome to apply).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and assist with patient mobility.

  • Proficiency in medical record documentation.

Desirable:

  • Valid UK Driving License (advantageous but not required).

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Training in dementia care, manual handling, or medication administration.
