We are looking for a Care Assistant to offer person-centred, high-quality care for elderly and vulnerable people who live in and around the Bishop's Stortford area. Your companionship, living assistance and personal care will help people to lead more enriched and independent lives in their own homes. Being a Care Assistant is no ordinary job. This is an incredibly rewarding vocation and a vital service for our customers.

We want to make care the focus of your day. Travel times should be kept to a minimum as you visit people to address individual needs. Our small, friendly team is highly motivated, valued, and growing.

If you have experience as a Care Assistant then that is always of interest to us. However, past experience is not essential. Full training will be provided to people who genuinely share our values and really want to make a difference to the lives of others.

The role of Care Assistant

The essence of the role is to provide assistance to our clients who are mainly elderly and vulnerable. You will help each person to live their life their way. You will support their independence, right to choose and to their preference to live happily, safely and securely in their own homes.

What does this Care Assistant job involve?

Each person has their own individually tailored Care and Support Plan. That may include any or all of the following:

  • Companionship

    Building relationships, providing social stimulation and emotional support, supporting their hobbies and interests, accompanying them to community activities, to the GP, dentist or hairdressing appointments.

  • Help with Daily Living Activities

    Meal planning and preparation, assisting with prescription medication, shopping, laundry or light housework.

  • Personal Care

    Helping an individual to bathe, wash, dress or assist with oral care or continence care.

  • Safeguarding

    Identifying and reporting signs of actual or potential abuse to those at risk.

The practical requirements for our Care Assistant

Visiting and caring for people within any area requires the following:

  • Ownership of a car and a valid UK driving license. Note that the majority of our calls are 1 hour plus and no calls less than 30 minutes.
  • A commitment to flexible working shift patterns of varying duration between the hours of 8am and 8pm to include some weekends.
