Domiciliary provider Apex Prime Care Ltd has moved into new and larger premises in Highcliffe, Dorset, with the help of the Mayor and Mayoress of Christchurch, who were on hand to declare the new offices and staff training area officially open.

A highly specialised facility will enable the provider to pursue regular staff training, keeping care provision up-to-date with regulatory requirements and making the most of each care worker’s potential with long-term benefit to clients.

Malcolm Patrick, managing director of Apex Care, discusses the priorities of the home care that Apex Care provides, commenting: “We are on hand to assist individuals and organisations in promoting and/or maintaining as well as improving an individual’s independence, we are responsive to their needs and preferences. We offer support which both enables a full, interesting and independent lifestyle.

“It is also vital to us and to our customers that Apex staffs are kept up to date on all aspects of care and new legislations, as well as being trained in the basics of care. It has always been important to us as a business that our employees receive the correct and proper training for the tasks that they are required to undertake, proper training provision not only improves the quality of service that we deliver but also encourages personal development and reduces the risk of any accidents. Our extensive in house training includes the eight Common Induction Standards which is complimented by training sessions on personal care, incontinence care, medication, dementia, end of life care and practical sessions on basic first aid and moving & positioning clients.”

Apex Care have been providing care-in-the-home services in Dorset and Hampshire since 2005, currently assisting over 100 customers in the Christchurch area itself, including for individuals with mobility issues and those diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Personalised care packages assist with housekeeping and daily tasks, offering companionship to those at risk of becoming isolated, while the company can also offer palliative care.

Opening the premises yesterday, the Mayor of Christchurch spoke on the importance of Apex Care’s contribution to the community, saying: “In Highcliffe and Christchurch we have the highest percentage of elderly residents in the United Kingdom, it is reassuring to know the Apex Care team are here to look after the welfare of our elderly residents, their staff are all fully trained and ensure their customers are well cared for. With the high cost of care homes, the first class service Apex Care provides, allows the elderly and vulnerable to remain in their own homes.”
