Ravi Bains, chairman of home care provider Sevacare, is calling upon communities to play their part in looking after older citizens over this festive period, saying:

“Please remember your older friends and neighbours this holiday and look in on them when you can.

“Christmas and New Year can be a lonely time for some older people who don’t have relatives to spend the days with.

“If you can call in for a chat to make sure they are well and to offer them some company, it can make the world of difference.

“And don’t forget the carers too this Christmas. Home carers and those working in care and nursing homes in the coming weeks will be sacrificing much of their holiday time with family to ensure their clients get the care they need too. So please spare a thought for them as you enjoy this Christmas period.”

An expanding home care provider, 2012 has been described as a ‘milestone year’ for Sevacare by its chief executive Roger Booker after the company was successful in securing several new contracts, including in Wolverhampton, Slough, Stoke-on-Trent and Barnsley, as well as the London boroughs of Bromley, Tower Hamlets and Newham. The provider also acquired Welsh home care provider Prompt Care Ltd, so now have branches in Cardiff, Newport, Torfaen and Rhondda Cynon Taff.

Mr Bains commented on the challenges ahead: “We look forward to taking up these contracts and working with the local authorities involved to provide valuable care to vulnerable residents in their communities.”
