Professional home care service providers Bluebird Care has announced plans to double its workforce over the next 12 months from 50 to 100 staff, and has invested in a new Centre for Excellence to enhance its standards of care.

Bluebird Care enables clients to stay in their own home and live as independently as possible, and the new centre at their headquarters has been created to train, educate and improve the standards of care staff deliver throughout Shropshire.

Ian Barnes, director of Bluebird Care, said: “We pride ourselves on the fact that we already offer a very high standard of care to all of our customers and the feedback we get reflects that. We want clients to feel as comfortable and independent in their own homes as possible.

“We are moving forward in 2013 and we want to encourage and enable our staff to become experts at what they do. We actively encourage further training and qualifications.”

The centre will train new staff at the beginning of their role, as well as enabling current employees to learn specific topics or skills and improve their confidence.

Mr Barnes describes the care group’s hopes for the centre, saying: “In the future, we will be able to train other people in particular areas such as hoisting or medication to help their own family members and improve their quality of life.

“We are currently recruiting and hope to double our work force in the next 12 months. We had 11 new employees starting in February. If anyone is interested in working in the care sector, with flexible hours, both full or part time and now offer health cover for all staff, we would really like to hear from them. And with our new centre, we are confident we have a lot to offer to a future career.”

Staff will have the further option of obtaining formal qualifications in conjunction with Ludlow College.

The company has also announced that this will create more middle and senior management positions to satisfy its growing number of projects being undertaken. Paul Tarsy, Bluebird Cares’ managing director said: “We will be developing a whole raft of new roles at both middle and senior management levels as our exciting new developments roll out.”

"We need good, successful people who are stimulated by a challenging and exciting environment and who want to grow their careers with an industry leader.”
