A new disco night is opening offering people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to come together and socialise from 26 September 2013.

Located in Stoke on Trent’s Chicago Rock club in Hanley, the disco will provide people with disabilities a place to meet up with friends and enjoy attending a social activity in a safe and controlled environment.

Organiser Matt Hill explained how he created the event, and said: “After speaking to the disabled community in Stoke on Trent I noticed a severe lack of inclusive events such as our disco.

“There are many fantastic organisations in the area providing some great activities for disabled people throughout the day but not so many evening sessions.

“We have been running a similar disco event in Cheshire for the last four years and know what an important social activity is for our guests.

“I hope that we can provide Stoke on Trent's disabled community a new, exciting and vibrant social experience. It’s so important that they have a place to meet new friends, socialise and have a good night out in a safe, controlled and secure location.”

A professional DJ will be attending the event playing popular songs, and a bar will offer drinks and refreshments to everyone who attends.

A number of helpers and support workers will be attending the night to ensure that people are supported in any way that is required.

The event will become a weekly activity which will provide people with disabilities a friendly place to go to enjoy socialising.

Carers and staff members accompanying those attending can come in for free, and there is a large drop off area for all minibuses and cars to access.

Mr Hill said: “Chicago Rock is the ideal venue as it has fantastic disabled facilities and has won many awards for being the area`s safest and popular nightspot.

“We welcome people with any disability and are committed to creating an enjoyable social experience for our guests.”
