Members of the public are being encouraged to start planning a tea party event to raise money for disability charity United Response, as part of their 4tea fundraising campaign taking place in June.

Last year over 120 fundraising tea parties were held, ranging from family get togethers to large community events.

United Response support people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and physical disabilities to have control over their lives, with the charity working to ensure disabled people are given the same equal opportunities as everyone else in society.

Diane Lightfoot, director of communications and fundraising for United Response, said: “What could be better than to invite your friends, family, and neighbours round for a cup of tea, and to know that you are raising funds for a worthwhile cause at the same time?

“Last year’s events ranged from a quick cup of tea with some friends through to garden parties and an Alice in Wonderland style tea party. It was all great fun and the money raised made a huge difference to the lives of the people we support. This year we hear that there is even a 4tea dogs’ garden party being organised.”

After celebrating its 40th anniversary last year and following the success of the first 4tea event the charity hope this years 4tea tea parties will raise more funds to help people with disabilities find work opportunities in the community.

Organisers will receive a 4tea pack with recipe ideas and information they will need to host an event as well as a variety of posters and invites.
