A Shrewsbury-based home care provider is organising a series of initiatives to raise the awareness of one of the UK’s most debilitating diseases.
Radfield Home Care is championing the Alzheimer’s Society’s annual Dementia Awareness Week by offering a free online guide that outlines symptoms of the disease and also details the treatment and support available to those living with dementia.
It’s also offering individuals the opportunity to sign-up for a number of forthcoming dementia initiatives to educate people about the illness and encourage the preservation of dignity, as well as actively engaging those living with dementia and making their lives more positive.
Dr Hannah MacKechnie of Radfield Home Care, explained: “Dementia awareness is an initiative close to our hearts, particularly as many of our clients’ lives are affected by the disease, which is why we’re supporting Dementia Awareness Week.
“We’ve recently launched a guide which provides some information about coping with dementia and the support available, which is free to download from www.radfieldhomecare.co.uk. We hope the guide will help individual’s understand the condition and also challenge misconceptions. We’ll also be hosting a number of information evenings early next month to increase awareness of dementia and improve the lives of those living with the condition.
