After a successful Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, West Midlands based charity New Outlook has announced plan to expand its Home Heroes service to help more older people in their own homes.
The Home Heroes scheme creates and delivers personalised care packages aiding older and vulnerable people to live as independently as possible in their own homes.
As well as the Home Heroes service, New Outlook provide residential and sheltered housing to people in Birmingham and the Black Country, delivering specialist care for older people and those with sensory impairment and complex needs.
Maureen Bradley, chief executive of New Outlook, said: “It’s excellent news that the hard work and dedication of our staff is recognised by our regulators, service users and relatives. We’re really proud of the services we provide and it’s why we’re expanding our Home Heroes scheme to help even more people stay as independent as possible in their own homes.”
The Home Heroes scheme will now expand its services to help more people in the surrounding areas of Erdington and Harborne districts where the service is currently provided.
A range of support is offered, from personal care and assistance around the home to offering people companionship to prevent loneliness.
Established over 150 years ago and originally part of the Birmingham Royal Institute of the Blind (BRIB) Housing Society, New Outlook became its own housing association in 1997.
New Outlook currently runs two sheltered housing schemes in Birmingham for older people who are blind or visually impaired. The charity also runs four care homes for young people with partial or total sight loss and other disabilities.
