Being a Home Carer you will need to provide service to individuals in their own homes and communities, who need assistance caring for themselves as a result of old age, sickness or disability. Home Carers are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant Agency policies and industry standards.
There is a vast amount of roles covered by a Home Carer. Tasks may include assistance with the activities of daily living for example toileting, dressing, getting ready for bed and prompting medication, housecleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transportation, companionship, respite, nutrition, cleanliness and household duties.
Not only is a Home Carer responsible for delivering the care to the individual that is required but also to ensure the clients safety and security within the home. Any concerns whether it’s from the clients health to their behaviour it is a must that you report this to your responsible person such as a Senior or Manager so the situation can be dealt with.
The main role and responsibility a Home Carer is to ensure the individual is receiving the full amount of care which is requested from them and for the standard to remain high with dignity and respect being kept at all times.
