Carefound Home Care has been applauded for its charity work over Christmas, raising £50 for the charity Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) after holding a raffle full of Christmas prizes in December.
The raffles winners, who got to take home a selection of chocolates, hampers, scented candles and even perfumes, were announced in time for New Year’s celebrations and money will now go to the charity to improve to boost the quality of life for local older people.
WiSE works to help people aged 60 and over in Wetherby and surrounding villages to remain independent and active by running a range of community based activities including memory cafes, gardening schemes and coffee mornings.
Practical support is also offered by WiSE, with transportation services and help at home provision available for older people in need of support in the area.
Neil Bellamy, project manager of WiSE, said: “We are very grateful to Carefound Home Care for their time and efforts to raise funds for WiSE. As a charity we appreciate their support and it is important we work closely with organisations to support people over 60.”
Carol Giblin, community and HR coordinator at Carefound Home Care, said: “We are extremely grateful to everybody who contributed prizes and purchased tickets for this Christmas fundraiser. Working with local community groups like WiSE is a key part of our efforts to enable elderly people to continue to enjoy independent living in their own homes and, as ever, it was great to have the opportunity to support their service.”
The home care agency carries out regular fund raising activities for local charities to improve services for older people in the community and will be running the Great North Run for local charity Dementia Forward in September 2015.
Carefound Home Care provides home care visits for a minimum of one hour throughout the year to ensure service users can continue to live an independent life in their own home for as long as possible.
