Home care provider, Carefound recently received a visit from Conservative MP for Elmet and Rothwell, Alec Shelbrooke in preparation for a Dementia Summit.

During Mr Shelbrooke’s visit in January he met with director of Carefound, Oliver Stirk to hear about Carefound’s approach to caring for older people in Yorkshire.

Mr Stirk commented: “We invited Alec in to our offices having seen his efforts to raise awareness of the need for better dementia care services both in his constituency and in the House of Commons.

“It was great to talk through how we go about supporting elderly people at home in Wetherby and North Leeds and, in particular, to discuss our collaboration with the Contented Dementia Trust through which all of our professional home carers are trained in their specialist approach to caring for people with dementia called the SPECAL method.”

The Carefound group was established more than three years ago and has provided care and support in the form of live-in care and hourly home care for more than 150 families with the support of over 35 care workers in Harrogate, Ripon, Wetherby and North Leeds.

Carefound have celebrated the success of winning a number of national and local awards for the care services that they offer including a full range of care plans for older people and support services for families living with someone who has Parkinson’s or dementia.

Mr Shelbrooke said: “Dementia is the next biggest health issue on the horizon and the number of people it affects is growing at speed. It is therefore vital that partners work together to deliver the very best care to those living with dementia and I was extremely interested to learn how Carefound Home Care deliver services to people living in my constituency.”

The home care that Carefound provide is bespoke and can be amended to suit familyies needs or to suit the requirements of NHS commissioning teams allowing care workers to spend most of their time offering a unique and professional service to each client.

Carefound’s personalised service allows care workers to give their full attention to the client’s mobility, medicine management and health and well-being to reduce hospital or care home visits.
