A brave eight-year-old boy with a severe neurological condition has opened the new offices of the Doncaster company which provides his care.

Jack Kirsopp, his mum Vicky and step-dad Jonathan were the guests of honour at the official opening of Prestige Nursing + Care’s new office in Doncaster.

Due to expansion the company has moved out of its former premises at Hall Gate to bigger offices at Phoenix House, Sandall Carr Road.

Prestige help Vicky to provide the care for Jack who has complex medical needs that include, Supra Nuclear Palsy, Bulbar Palsy, scoliosis of the spine, global developmental delay, hiatus hernia, fundoplication, micronutrients, gastrostomy and a specialist tracheostomy.

Vicky said: “When we were asked to open the new office for Prestige we were only too happy to do it as they have been so helpful to me and Jack.

“Whilst I am Jack’s main carer having the care team at Prestige has taken some of the strain off me and the support they provide is fantastic.”

Prestige Nursing + Care Doncaster Managing Director Mike Dooley said: “We were so pleased when we knew Jack would open the new office. He is an amazing little boy and we are proud to be helping to provide his care.”

Jack has had numerous hospital admissions throughout his life and is such a fighter. He has almost died on numerous occasions over the years and his parents have held him whilst they said their goodbyes.

Jack’s requires around-the clock care. When Jack is asleep he is connected to a machine which monitors his breathing and every four hours his trachea needs to be replaced.

Prestige have put together a comprehensive package of care which involves three members of staff providing care in Jack’s home, on a shift basis, during the day and four nights a week, which even though she is still around, allows Vicky to get some much-needed rest.

A further two carers also go on the bus with him to school and stay with him throughout the day, before bringing him home. The care we provide to Jack ranges from personal care, through to changing his trachea and taking him to the activities he enjoys, such as bowling and messy play.

Since opening in 2009, Prestige Nursing + Care (Doncaster) has grown rapidly and now employs 50 staff and provides 1,200 care hours each week.

Mr Dooley added: “We needed a new, bigger office to meet the demand for our services, which we provide across the Doncaster area.

“This can involve everything from personal care for the elderly, through to more complex nursing care and support for people like Jack.”
