Organised by leading disability charity Leonard Cheshire, the Give & Bake initiative is about bringing together friends, family and work colleagues for a cup of tea and a slice of cake in exchange for a donation. Whether it’s a tea party at home, coffee and cakes in the office or a traditional bake sale at school, the money raised will make a positive difference to the lives of disabled people across the UK.

Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines lost his right arm in a car accident in 1994 after becoming head chef at renowned country house hotel Gidleigh Park in Devon. He said: “Most of us bake for the pure pleasure of eating and sharing those treats with our nearest and dearest, but you can spread the joy even further by making your next bake for Give & Bake.

“Disability can affect anyone at any time of life, and when it does, the future can be uncertain. It is reassuring to know that charities such as Leonard Cheshire Disability are there to support disabled people to overcome challenges, and live the lives they choose.”

One in six people are disabled in the UK. Leonard Cheshire Disability is there to help disabled people live independently, to contribute economically and to participate fully in society.
