Natasha Norris fulfilled a lifelong ambition this month when she launched Home Instead Senior Care, a company providing non-medical care and companionship to older people in their own homes.
Natasha has worked in care for over 30 years and is now applying her knowledge to revolutionise the way that older people are cared for in the local area.
From their new office in Thatcham, Natasha and her care manager, Nicola Passfield from Frilsham, serve the communities of Abingdon, Didcot, Newbury, Thatcham, Lambourn and Hungerford. Their intention is to create up to 50 local jobs in the next 12 months.
Natasha has spent most of her career to-date working in hospitals and latterly in community nursing where she experienced first-hand how quality care can change lives.
Natasha said, “Enabling people to maintain their independence and dignity can prolong their life; I genuinely believe that. In my experience, home is best, people are so thankful for this kind of support and there just isn’t enough of it around.
“I looked for a service like this years ago when we were looking for care for my grandfather and wasn’t able to find it. When people need to find care for themselves or a loved one they often don’t know where to turn, I will be there to help them to find the right care and support that they need.”
Natasha continued “In Nicola, I have found a care manager with loads of great experience, who lives locally and knows the area inside out. Between us, we’ve been able to hit the ground running and now we’re on the lookout for more local, like-minded caregivers to assist us in helping people to enjoy their lives with the right support.”
Home Instead takes a unique approach to home care, helping people to live independently for longer. The new company differentiates itself in many ways, in providing tailored care of exceptional quality with calls that are a minimum of one hour. Carers are matched to their clients, to make sure that they share areas of interest and genuinely get along, becoming great friends.
It is more important to Natasha that her team has compassion and dedication. Many may not have worked in care previously, but are genuinely caring people who want to make a difference to the lives of others.
