London-based home care company Cera are currently looking to employ 10,000 people around the UK to work in the home care sector in response to the outbreak of coronavirus.
In an effort to fight the ongoing crisis and resulting unemployment across the country, Cera Care will be launching a large-scale effort to train and certify workers as qualified care workers and put them to work in as little as 10 days.
Cera are welcoming all applicants, and encouraging those recently losing their jobs in retail, hospitality, travel, cleaning and the wider gig economy to apply, get trained, and take on a tremendously rewarding new career.
Dr Ben Maruthappu chief executive of Cera Care said: “Coronavirus has impacted every single part of our society, with an unprecedented burden being felt by our elderly population, families and the NHS.
“To help beat the virus Cera is creating 10,000 jobs providing critical support to our country’s NHS at a time when it needs it most, through a combination of our carer workforce and best-in-class technology.
"Our ability to support and care for our elderly population, who are most at risk from this disease, over the coming months and years will significantly determine our ability to navigate this crisis.”
As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, up to nine million elderly people over the age of 70 in the U.K face isolation for the foreseeable future. This expansion of its care worker community, will be invaluable in supporting much of the country’s elderly population, as well as medical practitioners and families, through this immensely difficult period.
The new workforce will provide invaluable support to the NHS and elderly individuals in isolation.
’These are long-term positions and hope this will encourage those recently without work' to retrain
Horus Patel, chief technology officer of Cera Care, said: “At this time of immense pressure we have to use technology to create new solutions that change how we work in days not months, putting people back to work, empowering the front-line response to coronavirus and supporting the elderly and isolated.
“We are keen to emphasise that this announcement isn’t a stopgap, or a short-term solution. These are long-term positions within our company, and we hope this will encourage those recently left without work, or even those currently employed, to consider getting trained and becoming part of this crucial community.”
The workforce expansion has been undertaken to support older people who may be isolated and most at risk from the virus, while bolstering NHS services during a period of unprecedented pressure. All 10,000 of the jobs will be long-term, with staff being retained even when the coronavirus outbreak lessens.
Once you have applied and been verified, applicants can take the in-depth online skills development courses, followed by assessments to become formally certified as a care worker.
The program will allow successful applicants to begin working as care workers and earning immediately following the ten-day application and certification period.
Cera is encouraging applications immediately, and further information regarding potential roles can be found at Cera’s website.
