Home care provider, Home Instead Senior Care, has bought care introductory business SuperCarers, to expand its ‘live-in’ offering, as an alternative to care homes.
Home Instead Senior Care, has 215 offices with 9,000 care workers supporting 14,000 elderly people.
The purchase of SuperCarers, is in response to ‘changing needs of elderly clients who are looking for live-in care as an alternative to care homes’.
'Exciting'
Martin Jones, chief executive of Home Instead Senior Care UK, said: “Home is the place people feel happiest and most secure and our services can support that – we know from our research that 98 per cent of over 65s say it’s important to them that they stay living independently in their own home.
“Acquiring the SuperCarers business is an exciting development for us and will allow us to build on our home care offer to support even more people at home for longer.
“This can be from early stage care, which might only involve using technology to stay in touch with an older person to ensure they are safe, right through to more support around personal care, home help, and then eventually live-in care and palliative care.”
Live in care involves a care worker giving around-the-clock care in a person’s home. Home Instead was established in the UK 15 years ago to give home care and companionship to older people living in their homes. It also delivers specialist dementia care, live-in care, end-of-life and respite care.
SuperCarers has 'fully vetted' live-in carers
SuperCarers was launched in the UK in 2015 by brothers Adam and Daniel Pike as an introductory service. The company says it helps connect individuals and organisations with 'trusted, fully vetted' carers in their area. The main focus is providing live in carers.
The integration of SuperCarers into the Home Instead Senior Care business will happen ‘in the coming months’.
Started in the US by husband and wife team Paul and Lori Hogan in 1994, the Home Instead Senior Care franchise home care model is now operating globally in 12 countries.
Home Instead Senior Care has no less than 65 Outstanding ratings awarded by the Care Quality Commission across its network.
Adam Pike of SuperCarers said: “Home Instead Senior Care is incredibly well respected in the home care market and we were delighted with the opportunity to join forces to support even more older people to receive the care they so deserve at home and look forward to working with the team at Home Instead to achieve this.”
