The Elite Franchise Top 100 league table which ranks the country’s top 100 franchises, has chosen home care firm Home Instead for its top spot – a position it has been honoured to hold for three out of the four years the league table has been published.

The ranking is based on the quality of support the group gives to franchisees, its financial performance, the scale of the business and the contribution made to local communities.

Home care providers Bluebird Care, Right at Home and Caremark also made it high up the league table - ranking in 8th, 14th and 16th place respectively.

Founded in the US, Home Instead opened in the UK 15 years ago. The home care group has over 200 offices across the UK, providing care to more than 21,000 clients. It employs around 13,000 people.

Home Instead has also been named franchisor of the year at the British Franchise Awards, sponsored by HSBC.

Ruth Brown, Home Instead’s Business Development Director, said: “We are honoured to have been named the Gold Franchisor of the Year. This award is very special, but to win it in 2020 feels extra special as it’s been such an extraordinary year.

“This accolade is down to the hard work and commitment of so many people, such as our 60-strong team at the National Office, as well as our franchise owners and their amazing ‘caregivers’.

"And we could not accept this award without thanking the many clients and their families who entrust their care to us."

The home care provider's entry focused on their belief that ‘in-home care’ should now be considered the default norm. The group emphasised the support they have given their franchise owners, who faced many new challenges in lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Home Instead is now seeking new franchisees 'with unclaimed territories still available across the UK', as well as a small number of resales.

Andy Brattesani, UK Head of Franchising at HSBC, said: “Home Instead Senior Care impressed the judges with its heavy focus on the wellbeing of their franchisees and caregivers.”
