Home Instead has announced a new partnership with Barclays Digital Eagles to give their care workers access to digital training and the opportunity enjoy sharing their learnings with “clients and the broader community.”

Through this partnership, Barclays has made available a suite of online learning tools through its ‘Digital Wings’ platform, which can be easily accessed by local office teams via Home Instead’s training portal.

As well as upskilling the company’s care workers, the knowledge will also be shared by care workers with their clients and clients’ families.

Martin Jones, chief executive of Home Instead said: “Partnerships are really important to us as they allow us to bring in people with expertise that can help us to grow and develop our brand.”

Home Instead also plans to create community influencers across its network of 235 offices. Through the Barclays Digital Eagles programme, individuals will learn how to engage ageing adults with technology.

“The partnership with Barclays Digital Eagles will allow our caregivers the opportunity to develop their digital skills or develop new ones,” says Mr Jones. “And I know that they will enjoy sharing their learnings with clients and the broader community.

“It’s another way we are working to become an employer of choice whilst also benefiting our clients, so the relationship is a win-win for us.”

The partnership comes as Home Instead unveils new research, which polled 1001 over 65s. This showed that nearly half (46 per cent) could benefit from education and support around technology to help them stay connected and access services such as online shopping.

Liam Mitchell, head of learning at Barclays Digital Eagles said: “In the last year, many of us have depended on technology more than ever to go about our daily lives and stay connected to friends and family. However, we know there are people, particularly older age groups, who don’t feel as confident and therefore aren’t getting the most out of the benefits that digital can bring.

“The Barclays Digital Eagles are passionate about empowering communities across the UK to be more confident with technology, which is why we’ve partnered with Home Instead to provide tailored resources and training that can help their clients and families feel confident and safe using technology to stay in touch and enhance their day to day lives.”
