Croydon care worker wins London Care Award for her passion, empathy and motivation

A care worker based at Bluebird Care Croydon has won a 'putting people first award' at the London Care Awards.

Bluebird Care Croydon winner Jane Howard (left) alongside other colleagues at the London Care Awards At a special ceremony held at the Hilton Bankside Hotel in London on 19 November, Jane Howard was awarded winner in a contested field consisting of some of Greater London’s finest home care providers.

Judges were inspired by Jane’s dedication to delivering individual, personalised support to each of her customers on a daily basis.

Ms Howard said: “I can’t believe I have won, and I am very proud to win this award. I become a care assistant to make a difference to the lives of older people in Croydon who are struggling and need support. I am enjoying all aspects of being a care assistant and would recommend it as a great career. I enjoy my job immensely.”

Ms Howard's passion, empathy and motivation to make a difference were all recognised by the judges, and so too was her appreciation for the small efforts in her care services that make a huge difference for Bluebird Care Croydon’s customers.

Dean Slade, director of Bluebird Care Croyden, added: “We are absolutely thrilled that against tough competition, we have again won awards at this major care awards event. These awards are great news, and I am so pleased for our staff members. It goes to show that there are some great examples of quality home care in the Borough of Croydon.”

Ms Howard’s success on the evening did not end there, as she was also a finalist for the care newcomer of the year award.

Three other colleagues at Bluebird Care Croydon also had finalist awards in other categories

They included:

• Carina Redwood & Cristal Owusu-Lane - home care worker of the year

• Melanie Carrelo - dignity in care award

• Seonaid Blackwood- frontline leaders award

The London Care Awards are part of the Great British Care Awards, which celebrate excellence across the social care sector.

The awards promote best practice within both home care and care home sectors, whilst also paying tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated excellence within the challenging line of work.
