For the last six years, Dr Donald Macaskill has been chief executive of Scottish Care, the representative body for care providers in the independent sector in Scotland. He has also worked for many years in the health and social care sectors across the United Kingdom. A particular professional focus has been issues related to bereavement, palliative care and individual human rights.
Dr Macaskill said: “I am really looking forward to working closely with the CWC to spread awareness of their work in Scotland. Never before has the work of the charity in supporting frontline care workers through its grants and mental health support been as important as it is now”
For 13 years, Dr Macaskill ran his own equality and human rights consultancy focusing on adult protection, risk and personalisation and sits on several government committees and working groups and is a trustee of a number of charities.
Executive director of CWC, Karolina Gerlich said: “We are very excited and welcome this new support to The CWC.
"Donald is a hugely influential force in the Social Care sector of Scotland and Scottish Care’s support will have a massive impact on our fundraising and our reach, ensuring we can support even more of our social care heroes in crisis. We are proud and honoured to have them on board with us.
“I would like to thank Donald for taking the time to support us- and I look forward to working with him!”
