Where other sectors such as retail and hospitality are seeing average pay rises of between three to four per cent, care roles at Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire are set to see greater increases, including its domiciliary care team where wages will rise from £11.50 per hour to £14 per hour.

Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire are also set to increase their mileage pay to team members travelling to and from customers’ homes, increasing by 5p per mile to 40p per mile.

The news has been hugely welcomed by the team, including care worker Paula Large, who said: “It really makes you feel appreciated. The cost-of-living crisis is growing, with household bills and the cost of fuel increasing massively.

“However, this pay rise has gone up even more! Care workers provide an invaluable service to their local communities and it’s great that Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire is recognising and rewarding this.”

The business-wide pay increase is effective from 1 September 2022 to reward their team and offer more support during these testing times.

Fellow care worker, Emma Taylor-Hare said: “I’ve been working for Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire for many years now and they have always been very good at making sure their team members are well paid and regularly receive pay rises.

“This latest pay rise will help me, and my family live a more comfortable life. It is greatly appreciated.”

During the pandemic, the team continued to work tirelessly to deliver these crucial services so their customers could still receive the care and support they needed. Jack Whitfield, managing director at Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire said: “They deserve it - our care assistants have been brilliant. We are proud to lead the way in care sector pay to ensure that our care teams are paid at the right level and receive the recognition they deserve.

“They are the beating heart behind Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire and the reason we have such a strong reputation throughout the community for the care and support we deliver to people.”
