Home care provider, Bluebird Care Wakefield & Kirklees, has been named employer of the year for the second year in a row at this year’s Wakefield Business Awards.
With over ten different award categories open for nominations, Bluebird Care Wakefield & Kirklees fought off fierce competition and was recognised for making a vital contribution to the local economy and demonstrating perseverance and diversification in the face of challenges.
As well as this the Bluebird Care Wakefield & Kirklees’ dedication to staff shone through as demonstrated in their annual staff survey this year which showed 100 per cent of its staff enjoy their jobs and feel supported.
Director at Bluebird Care Wakefield and Kirklees, Narinder Gill, said: “It is an absolute privilege to win this award for the second time.
“As a team, we’re dedicated to providing the very best of care to our customers. The hard work put into doing just that never goes unnoticed. I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments and achievements as a home care provider, and I think it’s so important that everyone involved knows just how valued they are.”
In addition to the outstanding support of team members, from the provision of exceptional training and career development opportunities, competitive salaries, and additional bonuses amidst the growing cost-of-living crisis, Bluebird Care Wakefield & Kirklees have also continued to prioritise the emotional support of their team.
This has been achieved through their resource document, Maintaining your Mental Health, which has made a huge difference in many team members’ lives, providing a toolkit to make sense of their feelings and support them emotionally.
The support offer has been strengthened by the trained mental health first aiders within their team.
“We really do try our best to keep our team happy and healthy so I’m so grateful we have been recognised for this again,” says Ms Gill.
Ms Gill was also recognised for going out of her way to support those with dementia in the local community. Over the last eight years as a Dementia Friends Champion, she has created 219 Dementia Friends and worked with numerous organisations to make them dementia friendly and aware too, offering expert advice, guidance, and knowledge on dementia.
Meanwhile, the home care provider has also continued to build connections and support their local communities, raising over £7,000 as a team for their chosen charity, The Prince of Wales Hospice.
