Former IT consultant Yomi Eletu, who received poor care as a young man, has been spurred on to open his own home care business because “I know what good care should look like”.

Mr Eletu bought his own Caremark home care franchise business in Doncaster because he wants everyone to get "high quality" care at home, which was something he never received when he needed it as a young man.

Driven by memories of the care both he and his late sister received when they were both ill, Mr Eletu said the care was “poor and could have been so much better”.

'Coming from a place close to my heart'

Mr Eletu said: “I’m really excited to be part of our local Doncaster community, offering compassionate, quality care at home to some of our most vulnerable residents.

“From personal experience, I know what good care should look like when you are vulnerable. Consequently, moving into the care sector and launching my new care business is coming from a place close to my heart.”

The businessman decided to buy the Caremark Doncaster care franchise from leading home care franchisor Caremark, which has over 120 offices in the UK and internationally. Caremark supports people to remain living independently at home or with a live-in care assistant, if preferred.

Care staff wanted

“We have a large demographic of older people in Doncaster, many of whom will need some kind of care in the near future, and I look forward to being able to support them to live happy, independent lives in their own homes and give them the kind of care they deserve.”

The home care franchise Caremark Doncaster has a new care manager, Shanaye Latouche and Mr Eletu is now recruiting care staff.

The home care business is seeking ‘caring, dedicated people who wish to join the Caremark team and make a difference to the lives of the people of Doncaster’.

Mr Eletu said of his plans for the business: “At the moment we are keen to deliver the highest standards of care to anyone who needs it, but if we see a trend or a pattern developing in a specific area and we have the capacity to meet those needs, then we will definitely explore those possibilities.”
