Following a successful branch launch and a packed coffee morning, Hayley Griffiths, who joined the Lodge Brothers family of funeral directors in June 2023, is gearing up for another community-focused event. This time, the spotlight is on raising funds and awareness for Dementia UK through their 'Time for a Cuppa' campaign.

In collaboration with Liz Berry from Home Instead Windsor and Cressida Harris from Lodge Brothers, the event will take place on Monday, 10th June, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lodge Brothers in Datchet. Attendees can enjoy delicious cakes and hot beverages, with all proceeds going to support Dementia UK, a charity dedicated to helping those affected by dementia.

Adding a creative twist to the event, a Dementia 'Summer' poetry competition is being held, encouraging the community to express their thoughts and experiences through poetry. Submissions are open to all and can be sent via email to datchet@lodgebrothers.co.uk or delivered in person to Hayley. The deadline for entries is Friday, 7th June, and a special prize awaits the winning poet.

In addition to supporting a great cause, attendees will receive 'What's going on in Datchet' goody bags. These bags are designed to provide valuable information to those who may be new to the area, recently bereaved, or simply looking to connect with others and explore new activities and resources within the community.

“We are excited to see everyone come together for this important cause,” said Hayley Griffiths. “It’s not just about raising money, but also about fostering a sense of community and support for those affected by dementia.”

Liz Berry from Home Instead Windsor emphasized the importance of community support for those living with dementia: “We will be encouraging our care professionals to come along with their clients to enjoy the social time. Supporting those living with dementia is crucial, and events like these help foster a sense of inclusion and understanding in the community.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee, share your poetry, and support Dementia UK. We look forward to seeing you there!
