Mahrukh Tariq hopes to become a Social Worker when she completes her education and the experience she is gaining now as a Care Assistant at Caremark Kirklees is undoubtedly going to put her in a strong position when she starts talking to future employers.

At the recommendation of her professional carer mum, Mahrukh was seeking to gain some hands-on experience whilst also earning a little bit of money whilst she studies for A-Levels in Health and Social Care, Biology and Business Studies.

Having read positive reviews about Caremark Kirklees, she applied and after undertaking training, began providing care to customers at weekends.

That was eight months ago and Mahrukh had made such an impact that we were delighted to name her our Carer of the Month for March.

“I couldn’t believe it when I discovered I had won, it was a very special feeling,” she says.

“Everyone has been so nice since I started here and they have been very flexible with me because they know I can only work weekends due to being at college during the week.

“The training was very good and really helped me to build my confidence before I started visiting customers on my own.”

Mahrukh now has around 5-6 regular customers whom she looks forward to seeing each Saturday and Sunday.

“My mum told me before I started work that seeing people smile and knowing you have done your best for them would make my day, and she was correct,” she adds.

“All my customers are very welcoming and sweet and I look forward visiting them each week.

“I like it so much here that even when I go to university I would like to continue working for Caremark at weekends or holidays, continuing to gain more experience and hopefully this will help me in my future career.”

Outside of work, Mahrukh enjoys reading fiction novels, going to the gym with her dad and cooking.
