A key aspect of home care support is enabling clients to become more active themselves in order to get more out of life.
That can extend beyond the home, with supported trips out a key feature of some care packages.
Susan Lamb, 60, first got in touch with Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield following a recommendation from her community nurse.
Her worsening arthritic condition was making it more difficult for Susan to get out and as she was forced to spend more and more time indoors, she felt herself becoming more and more isolated.
Now, one year on, she feels a different person.
“Caremark are great, I wouldn’t know what to do without them,” said Susan. “It’s so nice to get out into the fresh air and see the town.”
Caremark visit Susan every Monday and Thursday and take her out into Mansfield so she can do her shopping. Highlight of the day is deciding where to have a meal.
“We have tried lots of places and my favourite is fish and chips,” said Susan. “It’s lovely to sit down and have a meal and a chat with them.”
Susan says she would recommend Caremark to others.
“I just found I was becoming very lonely at home all the time,” she said. “Now being able to get out and about is like a breath of fresh air.”
